Hi guys,
So I decided to buy a watch. Initially, I didn't want to spend over 300USD cause I think it's a waste of money but wanted to have a nice looking watch. After browsing a ton of watches and looking at this thread from time to time I have 1 model which I like a lot. I think it looks very nice and is well build. I know there is a price difference between automatic/quartz but I haven't had a watch yet(I use my cell phone as a watch nowadays ) so I don't care about it.... should I??
Here is the watch I like the most (1k USD) http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs-...ew-311985.html
(imho, looks better than the WCGRiders breitling )

Also I like the look of this one (not buying it probably, just showing u guys what kind of look I like) : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Sports...7230529&sr=8-1

They're different but both are to my taste. What do you think? Also what would u suggest as a better watch for this price (~1kUSD).

cheers,
Tom

If you cross your eyes you totally see a dog jumping over a fence in 3d!!!
=D

At least set the watch down on the crown and set the camera down on the table too, then they'll both be steady.

Also, Nikon D5000. You could do a bunch of research, but why? Get a refurb from Adorama.

IMO a decent camera is something everyone should have.

Looks great dude.

I thought you got a deployment?

Do you have an open back on this or no? Final price?

You still didn't do it my, better way.

I told the salesman I didn't want it without a deployment, clarified that it'd have a deployment at least 6 times, but he ordered the wrong sized deployment for the strap :/ Allegedly he'll be ordering a new deployment for me today (I have a feeling they don't make a bigger one though, so we'll see).

Final price was $510 for the watch with brown strap, if he can't get the right deployment clasp I'm going to ask him to refund $50, we'll see. I also got a black strap and the stainless steel bracelet pictured below for some more $$ (figured might as well...IDK).

Yes open back, I suppose I should have included a picture of that too :/

edit: ohhh, here's a picture I just took of it.... ....

No clue what that is. The bezel looks Chronomat Evolution, yet the 3-6-9 subdial doesn't jive with that.

The STOP on that 3 subdial looks weird as well.

Are you sure that is a real Breitling?

I think that's a sextant.

That was the same thought process as me, couldnt find anything with those subdials.

Sextant it looks like indeed, thanks.

I'm not purchasing it btw, just seen it on an ebay listing and was curious what it was as I hadnt seen one before. Could well be a fake.

Gurus...My wife is getting me a watch for my birthday and I'm hoping you can help me make a decision. I've never spent more than $250 on a watch (noob) and she wants to spend more than that to get me something really nice. Automatic movement is a must and I also have a strong preference for a steel bracelet.

I'm having a really hard time deciding between these three:

Hamilton Khaki Field. 42mm. I love this watch, but I'm not sure whether it will look good with a suit. I need something that I can wear with a suit, since I often have to wear one when meeting with potential clients.

Hamilton Jazzmaster Thinline. 42mm. I don't know. It seems like this watch would look great from far, but I'm not sure if the numbers are prominent enough for me. Have any of you seen this watch up close and personal, and if so how does it look?

Seiko SARB065. I absolutely love the styling of this watch, but I am concerned about the size as it is only 40mm. I feel like 42mm is a perfect size for me, but I don't know whether 2mm is a siginificant enough difference that it should be a deal breaker. Again, if anyone has seen this watch up close and personal, how good does it look in comparison to the Jazzmaster?

Is it possible to get the Seiko or the Jazzmaster Thinline on a steel bracelet?

Any other recommendations in the $500-$600 price range are appreciated.

Thanks. I promise to show wrist-shots once I make my purchase.

You don't want something really big if you are wearing it with a suit anyways. While that Seiko is 40mm, the fact that it is mostly dial will make it look larger than it is.

There are many SARBs that have metal bracelets. sarb029, sarb033, sarb035, etc....

If you want a big Seiko on bracelet, you can always get the Sumo for the dressy diver look though it might sit a bit tall to fit under shirt cuffs.

The khaki field is more of a military style watch so definitely less dressy than the others.

In your price range, I also like the Tissot Visodate.

Thanks. That is very helpful. What would be your choice between the jazzmaster and the SARBs based on quality and appearance?

However, there is a lot of variation in SARB series cases. If you really want to do this you could try emailing Seiya, he can source the appropriate bracelet that will fit that particular case.
