So **** you.

No love for old-school hip-hop pioneer Phife Dawg? Died far too young at 45, gave this world some of the chillest music to smoke up to ever.

Everyone else itt is too old to think of any hip hop as old school.

45 is very young for sure. Didn't even make it to his prime.

I remember Patty Duke had some bipolar issues in the 70s and would often act bizarrely on talk shows. "Cousins, identical cousins...!"

Patty Duke passed away from sepsis stemming from a ruptured intestine @ 69. What a horrible way to go.

I always thought her cousin Cathy Lane was much " hotter " than Patty.

They're both sitcoms. Unconventional (and in the case of LS, elevated) sitcoms sure, but that's their milieu.

Seem that America once created a type better than anyone, the genius **** up who lived on his own terms and didn't really GAF what you think about it. Not sure we're still making any of them.

I think we just had more space for someone like Haggard or Bukowski than they'd have found elsewhere.

I'm bad. My first reaction was, oh he's the one that was married to Julia Roberts. No. He wasn't.

Wait, you thought Merle Haggard was Lyle Lovett?

Good Slate piece on Haggard. Refers to him as country music's Sinatra, which is quite apt imo. "...restrained yet penetrating, always in full command of each note’s emotional resonance."

I didn't necessarily think he was him, but for whatever reason I associate them in my mind. Honestly I can't name a single song by either of them. Not my era and certainly not my genre.

Not Doris!

She was great character actor. Loved in Soap. She always elevated anything she was in, and she had impeccable comic timing.
