Currently Usain Bolt and Lionel Messi are hugely more famous than Jordan worldwide. The Olympic Games and the World Cup are the only two sporting events with true worldwide appeal.

I would guess that the current world wide sporting fame list would be Bolt, Sachin Tendulkar(Cricketer, very very popular in India) maybe Woods, the rest would be soccer players.

Only 2 soccer players I ever really heard of were Pele and Beckham, couldn't name another with a gun to my head.
