for most states once you get your eviction notice you have a certain amount of time to be out , then they'll be able to have the police take you out if you still arent out by that time.. but every state is diff and bbv4L isnt the place to ask advice liek this so i would actually look up the laws if you need that info

Alright, I'm going to see if my school has a legal advice department. Thanks, guys.

E: And sorry again for venting here. I just don't want to do it to anyone I know, because I know I'd end up regretting how whiny I'd come across to people with whom I communicate regularly.

You know, now that I think about it, you're right! Job had it way rougher than you. WTF was I thinking?

you tell them that you have a check coming in from your financial aid, that your granny is depositing the money into your account in a week, that your bank placed a hold on your check for x days and u can pay in a week or 2. LIE FFS, its the real world now. Then you do some crafty ass **** to get ahold of the money within a week. If you are half way intelligent you should be able to finagle it somehow. If not read below.

Alternative: You're at college, so go ahead and get evicted if you must, and find a friend whose roommate dropped out, or who has a spare couch or whatever, and crash there for the next month or whatever. Impose on more than one friend if you need to, and nobody will put you up for the whole month. Toss your friends some cash to help with rent and whatnot, as you get it. Go to your school's legal and financial aid departments and see about increasing your aid for next semester - you can potentially get work study, outside jobs, grants, loans, or scholarships. There are a lot of options. Check the availability of jobs within walking distance of public transit as well. You don't necessarily need a car to work off campus.

Lots of folks manage to stay in school despite lack of financial resources. It may suck, and might involve taking some time off to save up some cash, but it may not. You may be able to swing it on loans, work, and other aid.

One thing to remember - if you do take out student loans, you'll need to pay them back. They're virtually impossible to dispose of via bankruptcy. Make sure you have a plan to do that after you graduate like picking a major with a realistic chance of landing a job that will pay enough to justify the loans. If you're philosophy major with a future plan for life as a hippie poet, the degree is a luxury, not an investment.

I was. It's $700/month, for a total of $2800 per semester. When I made this decision, I had like $700 in my BR. I was also receiving $2250 from private scholarships, plus tuition completely covered by the Florida Bright Futures scholarship.

Before I move in, my mom leaves my dad and my mom and sister move to a place like twenty minutes away. I had already signed the contract though, and figured it would be alright since this already mostly paid for anyway, with my scholarship money.

Halfway through my stay, I find out the state government said, "**** you, we don't want to pay for this **** anymore, we have other bills," and now they only pay about 83% of my tuition.

And then my little sister calls me up crying because they need me to pay their rent for a month. Oh, and an extra $100 for a puppy that was going to be put down, and she really misses the dogs we had that my father put down when we left, so please please please?

And then a couple days after I give them the money, my bank takes out its own wire fees, and I get dinged for an overdraft fee. And then some sort fee for that fee because I didn't pay it back within a few days after.

I freak the **** out, decide that double-tabling (and then triple when that doesn't work) is the fastest way to make it back, and go -$1k in like 3 days. Went down to $42 and ground back up to my current position (with rakeback helping).

I'm so ****ing close and now this bull**** happens. The $1k I owe isn't all because of rent, it's a combination of rent + tuition that I wasn't aware I'd have to pay, and then $125 in late fees.

I also tried to get a job on campus the first place I go to tells me that jobs are pretty much decided by the beginning of the semester and I'd have to give them a shout next semester. I don't have a car, either, so I can't work off campus. I didn't know I could (hopefully) get a tutoring gig until last week and I've had a ****load of school work to keep up with lately so didn't get to it until now, because I figured they'd let me finish out the semester, which would be more than enough time.

Sorry for whining here in your BBV4L, but I don't really have any place to vent.
who the *** puts dogs down just cause you gotta move. put your dad down imo. who acts like this. *** off

They're not gonna be kicking you out on that day. Here in Vegas you get a 5 day notice through the mail and on your door. The 5 days does not include weekends or holidays.

I had an argument with an ex landlord out here a few years ago, he wanted to raise my rent $200 more a month and wouldnt give me a new lease unless I agreed. I told him TGFH. I didnt pay the rent, I got a 5 day notice. About a week later I got a 24hr notice from the constable. I went down to the court house and petitioned it, Just had to fill out a form and they gave me a stay on the eviction until another judge could look at the case. That took a little less then 2 weeks. The Justice court judge upheld it and I got a phone call from the court that the 24hr notice was back on. I went back down to the courthouse that day filled out another form and paid a $250 bond and had it sent to district court. That gets you anywhere from a minimum of 30 days up till 2-3months. I got a court date for about 45 days later. I showed up in court, the judge said "They say you owe them 3 months rent" I said I owed them 2 and the guy was trying to raise my rent. Judge said if you wanna stay there pay them, if not move out by next monday. I said no problem your honor.

By that time I had already found a huge house that was less rent and in a better neighborhood and the douchebag landlord got the $250 bond that I left with the court instead of the $3000+ he woulda got if I paid.

Call the courthouse and find out what your options are, this story happened here in Vegas. I'm sure you have some options to postpone it until mid Dec at least wherever you are.
