Somehow won Variance is a Beach 5. I was sure I would be out in the first round, BUT Meg never played her first round game. #lucky

Lol. If this is your conclusion, then I have to come to the following conclusion:

Gaby confirmed no life outside 2+2.

34 wins in 173 days, followed by 18 days without a win, including 3 second places in three days.

Lolvariance.

I'm thinking of cutting the word win from my phone's dictionary. I have no need of the word, and I could use some space in the memory.

Also I played game one perfectly versus dynasty in the new qualifiers, and then executed an astounding blow up with some shocking play. Obviously he was a solid favorite anyway, but I'm not sure I've played quite so bad in a while.

Haha I'm back to red. I don't remember what my high was, something like 1481? I lost > 30 rating points the last two months.

Today's game should be enough to get back into orange though

One official qualifier down to 16, other waiting for krohn to play first round match.

After the round of 16 is done, we might be able to do some projections about how the situation with predictions looks.

I just played my first non-DC game since HP started, at least.

Not sure where my WIM has gone.

Am I seeing correctly that Paul got a DC win from somewhere? I thought I was only 1 behind him (102-103), but today he has 104.

TH10 in your last two games vs chic start by playing rack 1 the worst possible way and after that play normal

If you win, repeat, but play the first two racks as awful as possible

Not sure how to determine what is the worst possible play, but I have a rack randomizer for the random puzzles I've created, I could use that for rack 1, or maybe even racks 1 and 2. I think I should re-rand the situations where two 1s would be connected, that is probably a bit too much.

Someone really should create some kind of introduction to basics of gameplay for newbies to the Triplechain site. I'm sad looking at newbies struggling so badly sometimes. Also, I would think that it is more fun to play when you can actually win sometimes, which could lead to players playing the game for a longer time.

Not all newbies struggle. Spinst has played 26 games all together and won 2 DCs ........

I am aware of that, but a lot of newbies do struggle. I also believe Spinst has actually read some strategy posts itt and has played games as Anon as well, so that 26 is likely a bit misleading.

A link to the first post itt. Play 10-20 games to get a feel, read Dynasty's post. That worked well enough for me when I started.

This is along the lines I thought, maybe a bit softer approach though.

For example:
1. Read the rules and walkthrough, try 5-10 games to see if you can figure out how to play yourself.
2. Take a moment to check if you've made progress with scores and understanding of gameplay.
2A. If so, play another 5-10 games to see if you can make more progress.
2B. If not, take a look at [some simple new instruction on the site], and try 5-10 more games.
3. Skip this, if you've already gone through 2B. Take another moment to analyze things.
3A. If you feel like you've got a decent idea what you are doing, continue by playing more games until you feel like you aren't making more progress, then go to step 4.
3B. If not, see 2B.
4. Take a look at [some a bit more complex new instruction or maybe Dynasty's post]. Try some more games.
5. Later you can take a look at links section to see some more advanced strategies. Good luck and have fun!
