Yes I had a mother.

She was often a plesant woman, but on occasion would have a fit of bat**** craziness. Never saw this from my pops.

eta- your current level of madness only goes to prove that your estrogen is precluding you from acting logical in this moment in time

Remember that in this conversation the issue at hand is CORRELATIONS not hard and fast rules. Do not confuse "men tend to be more logical than women" with "all men are more logical than all women."
you know that you have estrogen in you, right?

also, like i say, i regard men fighting as 'losing their **** emotionally', and once you factor that in, i think it's a wash

especially since a big side effect of testosterone is Competativeness, which whilst in some ways a really good thing to have, also leads to fist exchanging and other shows of dominance

Judging from some of the ww post-game discussions I would say that estrogen levels are pretty high around here.

what about composers? name some great female ones. where does the blame lie?
again - all the great female composers were being shoved back into the kitchen to pop out a few more.

You're talking the historical world here, where women in many societies were treated as little better than livestock, and in some societies worse, and you're asking why they didn't do great things?

Yeah, but the testosterone is quite a bit more dominant within me.

That's fine if you think that. Like I said I won't object if you insist that I'm wrong, I was just sharing my pre-existing perceptions which may or may not be correct. Contrary to common belief, I don't actually believe that I do know everything.

about half the women I work with have intermittent emotional breakdowns.
06-07-2012 , 11:37 AM
IMO Pog men get super tempered too and it is just the nature of game. Nothing wrong with POG women IMO.

we went over it, he is a less masculine looking version of hell boy.

now, we are discussing why women had trouble climbing out of the kitchen in the historical world, when men ruled everything and women were shut out of everything except popping out kids and cooking.

we may as well be talking about how blacks are less intelligent than whites, because name one great black in the field of xyz from antiquity.

You seem to have some really bad underlying assumptions. For you, at least. I'd think you'd be a little more sensible than assuming bad science

men have emotional breakdowns too, but we just go out and beat **** up, and people think it's ok

when a woman has one, it's because it's aunt flo is visiting.

they did do great things. women are great novelists, scientists, military and state leaders, etc etc etc - just not mathematicians.

emotions are evolutionary i assume so they must have a purpose, occams razor and all that

being logical isn't always logical

i suppose being rational isn't always logical would be more correct but doesn't sound as good

just because you say so?

I don't understand how women can be terrible at mathematics but awesome at everything else. Especially since you argue they can be good at science. Most of science requires a fairly in depth knowledge of mathematics, it's not common that you can have one without the other.

evolutionary biology people believe that depression genes were advantageous. A sad caveman doesn't go out and get eaten.

Give it a few years and I am sure you'll have some great female mathematicians, as well.

If you're talking historically, then the trend of great women novelists is less than 200 years old, scientists slightly more than 100, military even less and state leaders probably even less.

Unless you're talking about monarchies, then yes, women have been great monarchs, when a man wasn't in line for the throne ahead of them, that is.
