The bullet appears to have been fired from a handgun of some description.
OK, so he did have his key. Still leaves Derrick's key unaccounted for.

You said the blood stain makes it look like the victim crawled before dieing or was moved. Tell me about where you think he was shot if this theory is correct. Is it still reasonable he was shot through the window in that scenario?

It was a private phone call, I didn't want anybody to hear, so I went in to the kitchen. Nobody goes in to the kitchen at night. Can anybody substantiate where I was? No, I dont um... I don't think so. Margaret is quite a deep sleeper so I doubt she even knew I had left the room. Nobody else was down there, of course. I did hear the noise of somebody going down the stairs, twice actually. One of them must have been Jason going in to the study. But he can't verify my location, obviously. And neither of the people saw me."
If the other person going down the stairs is the murderer, my theory about the murderer going out and in through the kitchen doesnt work.

Walking through the woods. I'm not scared of a bit of mud. Of course some of my clothes have got a bit of muck on them. Where have I been? I've been in to the woods almost every day since I got here. And out to the Leowood Trails too. Is that all?"

Can you search the Leowood Trails?

Ok I have kinda lost myself with this one.

Where do we stand?

Well, afaict, there are still a few likely suspects. This is off the top of my head half asleep:
The old guy claims to have gone to the kitchen to make a phone call during which time the murder happened. (Have we checked his phone, called the person he claims to have called and tried to verify his story yet?)

The hunter has no alibi. I think he is a really good suspect. We should check out some of the trails he went to.

There is that solo guy, who I don't think has any alibi.

Personally I think the guy who found the body might be in on it, but I am obsessing about the phone being tossed onto the victims bed (and being there straight away he could have sneakily taken it off the victim). This really only works if someone has Derricks key to the room or some other key that works.

Other than that, unless there was a clever trick, I think most people have a decent alibi, or a good story that checks out (like the Korean who was puking in his room with likely food poisoning).

Did we ever clear his brother?

i think that the sick korean has been confirmed innocent.

his brother said he was with someone but didnt say who, clyde snow did the same so it looks like they were together.

iirc we still have no idea where olivia went after the bar.

people without an alibi would be: olivia, steven, edward, hank, claire and john

From what we've heard today - two persons came down the stairs, so if we can identify that person (hoping it's not Derrick) then we have another innocent - since the shot was fired from outside the window.

So maybe question them in private about that. Would be sick though if they were co-conspirators and just made a cover story like that to cross alibi themselves.

We don't know this for sure. Shot could have been from inside the hotel and the cartridge thrown out of the window. Unlikely, but not ruled out unless I have missed something.

Didn't we send Eskimo searching for footprints on the ground in front of the window?

I think so, but afaict there is still nothing conclusive that the shot came from outside. Odds are it probably did, but I am not accepting it as definite.

Anyway duck, what are your thoughts? We still need a motive. We have a few people with opportunity. No murder weapon.

That would be nice but pretty weird. I mean if the hunter is involved it's pretty stupid to introduce a place where evidence is for no good reason.

I want to know if Clyde Snow and Park Do-Hyun spent the night together as we suspect, Snow has been quite recalcitrant so you should ask Do-Hyun something like:

''Ok so we're pretty sure you spent the night with Clyde Snow but neither of you have admitted as much and therefore neither of you have an alibi. One way or another, whether it be now or in a court of law, you're going to have to give a full account of what you did on the night of the murder so please don't make this more difficult than it has to be.''

I'll stand just behind your shoulder and look menacing while you ask him.

question

Please interrogate Park Do-Hyun about his actions from when the bar closed at 11PM until 9AM the next morning. Leave no details out, in particular who was he with after he left the bar and what was he doing? Let him know I will sic my owlings onto him.

So I put the steaks back in the freezer and gave the cap to the cook. Why? Well it's his kitchen, innit? Figured he would sort it all out one way or another. I ain't no thief. Yes sir, it does look like the body was moved. The largest stain is next to the window, but the body has clearly been moved away from the window a bit, the stain is a couple of metres at least. In my professional opinion, it seems to fit Hank's description of finding and moving the body as he tried to help him. I believe that it's most likely he was shot through the window. That said, he could also have been shot from somewhere near the window, particularly if he had been looking out the window for some reason, and then the body moved. Though that appears unlikely given the casing found outside.
