not really sure what to say except that i felt it was obvious crash wasn't ours for a few reasons, including the final clue. and that there was only one possible combo remaining

it definitely didn't help that my kidney-5 clue was pretty dumb... should have just been 3. i was thinking kidney spots were a well known thing, plus they're kinda circular... so i was just re-cluing those, but instead it made a bit of a mess

anyway with the last clue, the list is tooth and crash, so why would a kidney-0 clue hit just tooth

i really have no idea why crash was still on the list to begin with after we went 4/4 on the noises clue (great job there btw). but whatever, it happens

i can obv see where this clue could be confusing in a vacuum, but i can't see any scenario where it's not 1 hawaii and 1 apartment word remaining

Bipeds 6 - mummy, newton, mona lisa, monkey, undertaker, leprechaun - smuggler was a problem, but I figured that if you can give a strong enough 6 clue in longlist, then hitting a red is not that big of a deal. Jack was the only other word I thought you might say ahead of some of the others, but I still didn't think you'd say it so early. And monkeys may not be true bipeds, but they are close enough that I didn't think it would be an issue.

Glistens 5 - shampoo, beer, tooth, skates, bugle (with a side of alps) - have you ever given a clue you were really proud of that just whiffed completely? Well, this was that. I honestly thought that beer was so strong here that you'd probably say it first...sigh. Now I had to come up with a different plan.

Forest 3 - sherwood, alps, monkey - tons of forest in the Alps yo, and I had to reclue monkey since it was clear you were never guessing it. I thought this was the one clue that would go through cleanly. Wrong again!

Microbrewery 4 - beer, craft, minute, strike - I assumed we would only have 2 turns left, and I knew that my last clue would have to be a 0, so I had to make sure that I had clued for everything before next turn, no matter how weak it was. I capitalised Microbrewery for Strike Brewing, which is a US brewery. There was also the other weak connection of workers going on strike, but that was obviously meh. I wasn't expecting you to get it, but I didn't really see any other option.

So, Nich was on the right track, but just with the wrong word (which was indeed the assassin lol). In fairness, black hole probably does sound more like a brewery name than strike does (and maybe it even is one).

Girder 0 - pole and bolt. It was surprisingly difficult to come up with something to get rid of only those 2 words. Most words have multiple meanings, and you can easily read too much into it, especially with a list of like 12 words or whatever it was. Same with protest - it was the only word that I felt had no connection to anything else on the board.

Great job getting there in the end...it was looking pretty dire for most of the game.

Glistens was good, imo. We missed the beer but we got the rest and they were words that would be hard to connect.

Microbrewery. That was pretty savy linking beer, craft, and minute together... and while we didn't need to find a place for strike in the end, in retrospect it was a tough word to clue (lots of blockers) and once we got protest it made sense where you were trying to get strike in.

We got snake bit with the bipeds as the only two you didn't want we picked, and then threw in a cartoon character for good measure ..lol . With link you must have been ' "ffs smh.." lol

EDIT. I think the only problem with Monkey is that we really have to go through smuggler and Jack to get to it.. .

Eh kind of was getting there too late. But I do think our kidney logic is reasonable. You can't clue off just tooth with something else since crash is the only other word on the list. We'd assume there was still a kidney word outstanding. Basically I did not think the kidney -0 clue was just tooth but I thought you needed it to let us know not to guess anything for kidney regardless of which other words we needed.

Still think we can and maybe should get there but still seems tough. Our biggest mistake may actually have been not leaving more of a list.

True, but I was fine with that, as long as you would say it eventually. I didn't really see link and bolt being guessed ahead of it tho.

Beat was also an assassin btw, so that made cluing strike an even bigger pain.

Sorry, guys, my bad. I was the biggest proponent of guessing crash. While I didn't understand its connection to kidney (did we have it on a list in response to the kidney clue? I thought it was a leftover from apartment), we had already discussed how insanity's noises clue had discouraged us from guessing crash, so I shouldn't have kept banging on it.

wahoopride and I are up next. I'll get a board tomorrow and rand for colour.

Great clues; sure it didn’t go according to plan, but your clues got us to all the words even if not in right order

It’s hard to be on same page with spymaster in these long list games because there are so many words

I think our last two were bolt and golf, like wahoo said after we had already guessed crash...

carrot looks like the best guess for non-pool related. and spring

bug/mine/spider seem possible if any of the others are incorrect, but not loving them

scuba is meh. i can see an argument for including it or throwing it out, leaning toward the latter
