Only famous Owl I've heard of is Hedwig...nothing really jumping out at me

brain seems OK cause those guys are supposedly wise

They lay eggs right so...perhaps that like you said. I've never heard of a temple owl, not sure if there's some random book like The Owl and the Bear or something.

I believe a group of owls is called a parliament but that doesn't really help either
