Being able to show a strong NT is more important than being able to show the minors directly, just one of those frequency things. So, yeah, your options are overcalling 3 of one of them (usually diamonds unless your clubs are longer), or passing, or bidding lol4N as Gabe said.

I take a small hiatus from bridge and cheating is on the menu again? I assume there are probably more coming up?

LHO is probably most frequent psycher I've ever encountered. He opened opened 1S, your partner bid 4C, and this hand passed.

Is it justifiable to be pissed in post-mortem after your side gets a terrible result?

I assume 4c is preemptive with a truckload (8-ish) of clubs. In which case the least I must do is 5c.

It could be a reasonable or even a cold slam, if partner has a heart void and a side ace. But I just don't have a good cuebid without first control in any suit.

No, that was the hand of the partner of the 1S opener. They chose to pass over 4C. It turns out 1S was indeed a psych. Would you be mad or no?

Yes. This is the definition of fielding a psyche. It is different than if it goes say (1S) 1N X and you have 9 points and play your partner to have psyched 1N, you know in that auction from the points that there was a psyche. In this auction if you pass 4C you have an illegal implicit understanding about your psyching tendencies since there is no reason your partner must have psyched based on the auction.

Ah OK. Misunderstood the hand. Well, yes, obviously I would be mad.

Guys like this are practically always cheaters with hidden agreements.

Yeah I had to look it up, and a 30 HCP hand is a 1/50000 hand.

This happened just now

Also down in 6NT, after 2c/2d, 5NT was described as 31+ balanced which seems accurate, robot then seemingly thought it was conventional and went 6D seemingly declining some grand, and didn't bid 6S with his 6331 shape

Final tally 3-12, and solidly in last place. But happy to have 3 wins in that crowd. The three wins came against Michael Rosenberg, Joel Wooldridge, and freaking Meckwell. Was a fun and tiring weekend. Also Thorladen still remembered previous interactions long ago in this thread .

Sweet, you beat Meckwell!

I remember when thor posted here, obviously it was like 1 day after I posted and someone said "best player to ever post in this thread" so Steve had to immediately **** on me by posting lulz.

Did this event use no real time kibitzing? Was becoming a running joke that nickell was the nuts draw in online bridge since they were last in every online event at the beginning of this whole online bridge thing, guess they will do a lot better now with no real time kibbing allowed. I see they finally crushed it even though they couldn't beat chuck :P

edit: Sorry I forgot meckwell != nickell now. My brain cant wrap my head around that.

Yeah no real time kibbing, I was ready to send out an email to my club saying hey watch me this weekend, alas.

Meck was on Levine this tourney, which I guess is their new team. When they did the NAOBC the second pro team was Helgemo Helness. This event being US based the second team was Lair Passell.

Given that about half of our points are in a probable suit of the opponents and the probability that if we do double, we end up in what may not be a great spade contract, is passing rather than doubling fine here?
Bridge Quote

This is a 100% take out double. 3244 with 13 HCP and Qh that is probably well positioned.
Passing here is not an option.
