the first guy is obviously better to have as a teammate: you follow him when he has a logical explanation and you flip a coin the rest of the time, you are 95% right
the best you can do with the second guy is follow him blindly and be 91% right

a good example why kukraprout is value selection that I mentioned earlier I think

His trolling in HP5 should've moved him up by itself.

thoughts on bhuber being picked before others?

seems like a reach, but i haven't seen a lot from him yet tbh.
wouldn't have been on my radar at all, quite possible that's a me problem though.
i assume that it's objectively a poor value pick.
but maybe he's a star in the making, i dunno.

So the mid round strategy seems to have shifted away from "Let's get this guy, nobody's heard from him in a while but he used to be GRATE!" and toward, "Let's get this guy, sure nobody's heard from him but eventually he'll be GRATE!"

bhuber's solid enough. binkles and me* basically agreed to kill him (ahead of luckbox and Redd among others) n2 in a recent vanilla after we lynched the seer, basically because we figured he was the only one with a particularly good chance of figuring things out.

He's got a tendency to take days off that I'd be worried about as a teammate, but he's got a pretty good head IMO.

*it was mostly binkles' idea, I just went along with it

Dean and Herbie both moved up spots despite having played a grand total of less than 5 games between them this period. Clearly their strat is working. Could it propel them to #1 and #2 by the time this rolls around in 2016?

Both Halpert and Euroa got drafted at the exact same spot on both. Consistency!
Certainly you look at the story of this draft has to be wahoopride. Former 3rd overall pick just two years ago and now dropping all the way down to the middle tier of this draft as we end the 4th round shortly.

I think it's a mystery honestly, Boom. You look at some of these other players taken, just as many participation questions, just as many if not more, sort of red flags if you will in terms of the motor, the commitment, the ability to adapt to the new systems, and yet its wahoopride who still finds himself waiting for that call.

You think about bsball also maybe being in that category as well, certainly him and wahoo were friends at the college level. So I see no reason why they shouldn't be drafted soon when you have players like XXsooted and G0tgame off the board.

I think you look at D4's approach to this draft, you sort of scratch your head a bit, obviously wanted more of those old school conference players on his squad and yet he's overlooked some of the best ones.

It seems like there have been quite a few complaints about wahoo's participation level in games he's played since the last draft. Given that players are not being drafted based on their peak, I'd assume that that's why he's falling so much.

It's not a bad strategy to just cater to the demographics of the voters and draft a bunch of people who play a lot and post a lot in 2013-2014, but even within that framework I feel like there's been quite a bit of spew.

Idea for next time this is runs, results should be measured by performance over the next yearish. So say draft in December, then in November rank the players by their performance since the draft completion (the whole ranking thing would need to be figured out).

I think the anon draft games are a little more fun than the straight drafts... generally limited that way to current players and they have to prove their worth in games immediately...

bsball & wahoo are similar in that they've probably both tarnished whatever reputation they had by signing up for games every once in a while the last couple years, but failing to participate / playing poorly.

and yeah some of it is probably a reaction to wahoo being taken 3rd last time, which most felt like was a pretty big mistake at the time? seemed that way. guessing they'll both be taken in the next couple rounds though.

I think wahoo's a steal at this stage with old schoolers getting drafted, 3rd overall was lol but he was a pretty smart villager when not totally slanking, and very good with NA's as a wolf tammate, plus he made it to d4 on meta alone.

to be fair that was before the invention of drafting people based on their future games
