^^^ wish a Nevada, Delaware representative made the same statement. I doubt Nevada can push back on Sands company but maybe Delaware can add to the push back.

A certain Nevada Senator might be able to push back. It all depends on who his major gaming contributor is.

I wonder if we would have been better off with two Democratic Senators from Nevada instead of having one Republican.

As long as Reid controls the agenda in the Senate, there isn't going to be a bill that undoes NV's internet poker scheme that even gets read in the Senate.

He may float his own bill, once again, but I doubt he ever actually introduces it. All Adelson's efforts, IMO, are going to do is assure the King and Barton bills don't advance, and they likely weren't going to advance anyway.

^^^ fully agree, not sure if Adelson can have any effect in states. I know CA best and I doubt he would have much effect. Tribes are the players here and I doubt they will let a Nevada casino owner block a real tribal effort to go online. It will be poker only in CA anyway and that might keep the Adelson effort reduced.

When's the next Venetian Deep Stack Series? There needs to be an active boycott of it.

The current one runs through the 27th of this month.

I suppose I am sick for thinking this, but - if all the 'aware' poker player grinder types are boycotting the Venetian seems like that would be the best place to play right?

Sheldon argues that kids, teens will ruin their lives by playing on-line poker. Seriously, I'd bet my life savings way more 'kids' have had their lives ruined by degenerate parents gambling in casinos!

If a ban bill passes the House, it would be problematic. Also, it's not just a ban that's an issue. Congress could prohibit interstate online poker, creating a pretty big liquidity problem.

I think he'll have his biggest effect at the state level. In state hearings, we've not heard that much opposition. Rather, there's been a lot of indecision, stakeholders who cannot come to consensus, and that type of thing. Now, we'll see opposition witnesses, lawmakers standing in opposition, anti-online poker commercials and newspaper editorials, etc.

This is a very real threat. I hope we all take it seriously.

I certainly take it seriously, but losing focus on the offensive in reaction to this threat is enough for him to win. We need to stay on the offensive. I think paying too much attention to Adelson gives him some credibility, where his arguments have none.

We have to be diligent in being proactive, moving legislation forward in the states. There is more we need to do, legislation emerging in new states next year needs devoted efforts and resources.

^^^^This is the offensive.

Adelson is a tenacious opponent who, once he gets his hooks into something, doesn't let go. So, IMO, we really need to rally the troops against this threat. And, we need to take steps now to keep media from buying into Adelson's narrative (media was bad for poker in the run up to UIGEA).

Interestingly, one of the first battlegrounds could be in Washington state. Remember the last hearing, when it was pretty clear the lawmakers weren't really briefed on the negatives our opponents always throw around about our game? Well, I imagine the next hearing will feature lawmakers who have met with Adelson's lobbyists and voters who have seen ads from Adelson on the matter. Again, keep in mind that he has a staff of strategists devoted to figuring out how to stop us, and bags of cash + strong political influence.

So, when he puts out articles against us, we should all post our thoughts and vote our minds. Let's have these stories refuted by their own comment sections, ensuring media see the support for poker.

If Adelson is worried about underage playing, I have a solution that would cut down on underage playing. Have the sign up process be one where you have to provide a copy of your driver's license AND a utility bill in YOUR name.

Not too many underage people would go to the hassle of dummying those things up so they can play.

If a parent wants to let someone underage play using the parent's name, that should be the right of the parent.

If someone of age is still living at home, have the cable bill, or similar, put under that person's name.

Just saw this on a tweet from the PPA. Venetian is now offering sportsbetting "and technology joins sports perfectly with the Cantor Race and Sports Book™ app for all smartphones, tablets and PCs. This allows you to wager anywhere in Nevada."

The app probably uses some sort of geolocating software which would be ironic if the reliability of such software is one of Adelson's objections to online poker. I know USA Today brought up reliability of such software in their editorial on online poker.

From a tweet, for a casino owner to prohibit Igaming is the same as a
a bar owner to prohibit drinking alcohol at home.

There are so many hypocritical conflicts, that I can't imagine how he can hold both thoughts at once. Poker players must keep the push back rolling .. action plan, local members of congress etc.

Adelson is a greedy piece of **** madman. Very dangerous man. A boycott really should be put together.

He is objecting on "moral grounds"...... This old bastard has balls the size of Saturn spouting this ****.

This POS needs his comeuppance and a one way trip out of the USA.

3 Of the Most Obvious Problems With USA Today’s Anti-Online Gambling Editorial [onlinepokerreport.com]
The editorial – which appeared only days after Sheldon Adelson announced his new campaign to beat back the tide of regulated online gambling – was rife with errors and misrepresentations.

I wonder if the editorial writer at USA Today got input from Chad Hills, formerly of FoF. He made a habit of ignoring the fact that people could already play online when arguing against a regulated environment.

I think adelson's efforts might help poker in the long run. Everyone see's through Adelson's BS and it is having a sort of backfire effect against him and getting people on the band wagon to screw him over. Like the tweet's say.... he is like a bartender trying to tell people they can't drink alcohol from home. It is laughable and will bring more attention to the issue. He is throwing money onto an open fire is my thoughts.
