Does Vanilla not let you install multiple themes that users can choose from?

As a colorblind the name bar contrast is almost unreadable.

+1

can't emphasize enough how killer that would be

there are a number of places that provide color groups that most color blind people can distinguish pretty easily

tbh I thought at first that maybe they were marketing types from Vanilla. :P But that seems unlikely now.

It didn't occur to me that maybe my reaction was just a consequence of the politics forum warping my worldview, but now I'm a bit worried.

I have no affiliation with Vanilla at all. I'm just a typical admin of sites like these and i know people like them very well. They think because they have a keyboard their voice must be heard and listened to. They derail stuff with their negative attitudes and comments and think they are helping.. All they are doing is pushing their own agenda and what they want and don't like it when people speak reason to them because it does not get them what they want. People like this are useless in life and the only reason they contribute is because it is self serving period.

Children in adult clothes that have no idea why they are even doing something. They don't bother me a bit. Constructive discussion or get lost because whining does no one any good.

This sounds a lot like your participation in this thread, IMO.

I cannot speak for the admins here and I wont force or paint them into a corner with my answer but ANYTHING is possible with coding, you can setup CSS to have variables so if you are color blind that you could choose the color blind option and it would replace all the colors with high contrast ones. This is not a Vanilla feature but just coding in general that allows this and it would be up to them to decide if this is important enough to implement but put a request forward to say this is important to me for these reasons... making a site accessible to the color blind nowadays is just defacto on a new build for us but that is for corporate sites not a forum.

So wanting civilized and constructive conversation is bad because it silences those that want to derail stuff with just negative comments.. "Its ugly", "Its stupid", "Ill leave if they change it" Yeah if that hurts your feelings then there a reason for that! your that person and you need to realize why no one listens to you other then other people from your own echo chamber.

Wanting to have a civilized conversation is not derailing but to those that want to derail the conversation to their own negative one..

If your comment is not constructive then keep it to yourself you're helping no one help make things better and if you don't want to make it better then why comment at all?

As someone who would like this transition to go as smoothly as possible and appreciated your initial foray into this thread, I've got to say that continuing to argue with everyone isn't really helping.

In case anyone missed that post.

When the time comes to make a new thread asking for user feedback it won't matter if people post things that aren't useful. Those posts will be moved into a different thread.

Its new software, it will be a change but it will not stop you from doing what you do every day which is Post a question or comment and people will reply to it and you'll get an email telling you someone replied to it.

I have not been on this forum at all but if I had you judge a lot of you by this post it seems you are all a bit entitled because you THINK,without you this forum would not live.. trust me it will!

Sorry guys but I had to rant how bad this was... do you know how had these admins are working on improving this forum that you have zero clue about because of your 1% knowledge that you think is 100%. Seriously give them a break and maybe help them a bit....

Seems like you suffer from DK...the bolded is not all this forum is and not how everyone here uses it.

For example, we run some bots to run forum games. And we have lots of programs, scripts, spreadsheets, etc all programmed to work with vBulletin.

We also need plenty of notice so that a 50+ person game isn’t ruined due to migration in the middle.

And this is 2020, people want push notifications, not email notifications.

We freaked out because we were told we’d be migrating to a new forum in a week and have no clue if our current needs will continue to be met in the new software. To the admins credit, they slammed the brakes and are taking some time to get things how people want and hopefully give us more than 1 week’s notice.

But get off your high horse when you don’t even know this community. There are plenty of people who have been a part of this community for over a decade and have been doing development etc for longer than that. I’ve personally used Vanilla Forums on my sites before (sites that got 1B pageviews in a year, not small sites) and made the decision to use Vanilla over other alternatives. I’m sure others here have as well.

Most of the comments here before you came to derail this thread were about what features users wanted to ensure made it over in the transition. There was PLENTY of constructive criticism in this thread, but thanks for coming along and putting in your 2 cents and making this thread so much worse.

Thank you for explaining how CSS works. This doesn't answer my question. Here on vBulletin there are a dozen skins installed that users can choose from in their Miscellaneous Options menu. On the Discourse boards I admin, I can add as many themes as I want that users can choose from in their Preferences menu. Is it possible to install multiple skins/themes on Vanilla that users can choose from?

So, back to the issue at hand - I'm liking this a LOT better since Kiera (with some helpful suggestions from gregorio, I believe) has made substantial changes.

Probably like most people around here I will just try and figure it out when it happens. I hope it is going to be similar to what we have now and I won't have to figure out a bunch of stuff to make it work well.

I would like it to be as similar to this forum and function in the same way as I have no problem at all with our current forum.

Two questions.

Will there be a way to set it so it is close to what we have here?

If this is possible and it needs some particular settings to accomplish this could we get instructions posted?

Question: what is the plan to support Tapatalk, Vanilla App, or some other mobile app so that we can use the forum via app and get push notifications on new messages and new posts in threads we subscribe to?
