The bet as OP wants it seems much too ambiguous. You would need a webcam in every room (including bathroom) to make sure you're not on some sort of laptop or phone. One in front of the computer and one in front of the apartment isn't enough.

Also some of the stipulations seem sort of stupid. You want 2:1 or 3:1 when I believe probably a good chunk of people could do this bet quite easily. The fact that you've experimented with sleep deprivation and other things probably means you've tested your boundaries on this as well. Also, movies and video games allowed? Sleep 11 hours a day, play poker 4 or 5 hours and then spend the rest watching TV or playing video games between meals. Easy game. Welcome to the life of most teenage nerds during summer vacation minus the poker.

This prop bet doesnt even hold a candle to the bathroom prop bet. If you have an anti social personality this is cake. This is nothing like Castaway lol. OP would have movies, books, video games, poker and other forms of entertainment. Playing a video game or watching a movie isnt direct contact with other real people but it is a form of simulated contact and one factor among others which will make the bet pretty easy.

Fantastic ideas, but heres a tricky situation; if one or more webcams went out over the month [power outage, computer error etc], what would happen? The op [with no computer use] would not know the webcam in room #2 was out, and we'd have no way to prove he wasnt in room 2 chattin up on the cell and watching tv.

hmm. good point. maybe use video cameras (think: store security system) in conjunction with webcams. if there's an outage, after prop is complete, tapes can be thoroughly reviewed by committee who will determine a winner. that's a feasible and relatively inexpensive (when compared to the > $20k that will be wagered) solution, no?

with several surveillance cameras, we can much more thoroughly monitor his actions. i know nothing about these systems (though my dad's company designs them, so i can ask him) so i'm not sure about practicality/feasibility.

That's tough to say. I mean given those crazy rules outlined above, I would say it's near impossible. But, I mean minus 2p2 my life for the past month has been very similar to what he wants. My parents work all day, my brother is gone a lot, and I tend to sleep during the day and stay awake during the night a lot, so my life has been kinda like this for a month. It sucks, but I've done it, and will continue til September since I have little to no life. I definitely wouldn't give odds, and like posted above, his outline is way too ambiguous which is why the crazy outlined rules are the only feasible ones to me.

The realisation of what he'd need to do to get 20k out of this lot must be hitting home. Original proposition doesn't sound that bad, hell I could probably sleep ten hours a day and play internet poker and watch movies the rest of the time for two months.

This bet is borderline unethical imo, especially if the harsher requirements are implemented, and if the money is very important to the OP. I dont want to bet on something that might push a man into a mental breakdown.

err... this is pisseasy, i have these rushes times to time, when im working out intensively(with the stuff in the apartment obv) and watches 24 s01-s06 all over again. If he stack up on alot of series this is supereasy imo..nerds do this all the time, im a nerd i know what im talking about.

Ban the tv / and the computer and we got a problem.

Id prefer to be indoor without human contact for 2 months than not being able to use any technology at all for straight 2 months.. i mean,.... not being able to play final fantasy wtf?
