Q for anyone that uses Mozy or Carbonite online backup (any other options?).

For sensitive / private data, do you rely on the service's encryption, or do you encrypt such data on the client end first (e.g. using a TrueCrypt volume or similar) and backup that encrypted file? Any alternative methods?

Hey does anyone know a website that will do the following:

I'd like to upload a bunch of photos of people from a gameshow, and then have people rate their attractiveness. I don't mind doing this on a site like hotornot but:

i) hotornot has rules preventing uploading photos from a tv show I believe.

ii) i don't think hotornot has a function to upload 150 or so photos at the same time.

another option is to upload a photo to a folder on a site like photobucket and then send the link to some friends/colleagues and get them to rate the photos. My current issue with that is that I've been unable to find a photo site that enable photos to get rated. Note that if I did find this I'd prefer if the ratings that people gave were private (other than to me) so that people don't get influenced by previous ratings.

Do you know someone who knows html and is able to copy/paste some javascript code?

You would need some kind of subdomain or folder of a existing domain and a little space on a webserver. Do you know anyone who runs a webpage?

I can hook you up with code.

I get allocated a website by my university. I've never used it but I'm sure I can work out how to access it. I don't need it to do anything other than this task, so presumably there wouldn't be much html code needed. I'm happy to take up your offer, very generous thanks!

Just use the Tor Browser Bundle. It's all preconfigured.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy a motherboard and case which will premount them? I have not built a computer in 10yrs and remember the back portion being left partially open and allow a lot of dust in...

hey guys, I have a broken PC and a broken monitor and am looking to dispose of them before moving.

tossing them into a dumpster seems kinda ill-advised. is there a better option?

Giganews is just a usenet provider. Newzbin was an indexing site that had pretty much everything under the sun.

Post them in the Free Stuff section of craigslist. Somebody will pick them up.

Take a hammer to the hard drive. It's the only way to be sure, and it's fun!

Bizarre keyboard behavior-

Recently my keyboard started acting up. The enter key on the number pad was not working right- whenever I hit it a favorites pop up (for my wireless keyboard) would show up, and also it was sending a print or command or something as my printer screen would also pop up. I noticed odd behavior on the windows key as well, when I pressed it I would get a favorites prompt and also the "my music" folder would show up.

I uninstalled the software which was needed to get the favorites key to work, but the keys still do not function properly. If I have notepad open and hit the windows key, it types "091" and the cursor is placed between the 9 and the 1. When I hit the enter key, it will type an " ` " character, and sometimes will type 857. These seem to be the only keys having issues.

I am failing at finding help through google- and these issues are brand new. I use the keys often and they were fine just two days ago. Any help?

is there a function key of some sort that is stuck? i dont mean like F1-F12 but rather a key that when pressed enables some extra hotkeys or functions

There is a "F-Lock" key but that turns on/off no problem. I took out the batteries and bashed all the keys to try to make sure nothing was stuck

Something tries to communicate with you. As long it doesn't write 23 you're probably safe.

Use http://www.december.com/html/spec/ascii.html to translate it.

As a serious note, I have no clue what's happening there. It somehow looks like your keyboard confuses 16 and 32 bit values, because such digits are used on 16 bit embedded systems.

Dumb question about desktop backgrounds:

I have a laptop whose monitor resolution is 1600x900. I recently got an external monitor whose resolution is 1920x1080. I would like to use the same background on both monitors, but the background i have been using on my laptop does not fit correctly on my external monitor (external monitor puts black border around the background to make it fit correctly). I would like to continue using this same background on both monitors while getting rid of the black border that is now on my external monitor. Is this possible? the black border just tilts the **** out of me and i want it to go away.

TY to anyone who can help.

You can either chose the option to "stretch" the pic, so it fills the whole screen, but depending on the pic it might look awkward then.

You can also chose to resize the picture and use different sizes for each monitor.
How to resize it? www.paint.net
