x-post:

everybody else is rooting for the colts to fail to get Andrew Luck, right? if they do get him then we probably wont see him play regularly until 2014/15, assuming Peyton's career isn't over

Much less often than pre-draft. It happens though.

This thread reminded me how deflated I was when Leinart stayed in school so the 49ers had to "settle" for Alex Smith. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise (well, sort of).

I kind've wonder what would have happened if Leinart was in another situation. He had a really solid rookie year before breaking his collarbone and not starting for 3-4 years while Kurt Warner played at a Pro Bowl level. If he was given the snaps that Alex Smith was I can't imagine he'd be much worse than Smith is right now.

Leinart's arm is probably a little worse than Dalton's. He was a terrible first round pick.

The impression I got, despite some OK performance before losing his job to Warner, is that Leinart just really didn't care about becoming a star. He was happy to hot-tub with co-eds and carry a clipboard.

I get that impression also. He probably has lots of WIM, just focused on things unrelated to being a pro QB.

Nobody mentioned Adrian Peterson as a can't miss? ADP and Suh were 2 college players I already had pencilled in to the Hall of Fame before they stepped on an NFL field

ADP was not a can't miss. He is to tall and his running style scared some teams.

yeah, honestly, when AGame said "how has nobody mentioned Peterson?" I thought he meant Adrian, not Patrick

Peterson had injury issues IIRC, hence him falling to the Vikes

I saw one game of Suh (Texas obv) and figured he'd be an immediate impact player with goat ceiling. Have never seen a defensive player disrupt a game so much the way he was doing it. Ragdoll double teams, completely unblockable. And the way he was built like a sculpture, such a powerful frame with no fat. Best prospect I've ever seen ainec. From one game, hehe.

Yeah this. I distinctly remember this being the biggest scare before the draft. He was injured his last year at OU too iirc.

Suh vs. Texas is the GOAT defensive performance by one player that I've ever seen in CFB

I suspect like many others itt, it was also the first time I'd seen him play live. Was just unreal watching him that game. Simply unblockable.

Yeah plenty of people said Adrian was too upright and would thus get hurt and stuff.

Also, 6 teams were afraid he'd break their QB's throwing hand if they ever shook hands. It's so funny that almost everybody that talks about Peterson in anything more than a passing comment must mention his strong handshake. It would be cool to shake his hand some day and see what it's like. I remember a radio guy in Houston said he met him his rookie year or something and was like "I mean... he HURTS you. It's not just a strong handshake, it's like he's trying to bring you to your knees." lol.

Maybe they just like (or dislike) making trades in general, without respect to value
