Pretty crazy he's rehabbing by playing and making cuts in the hardest golf tournaments available. It's obvious he has his eyes set on St. Andrews and wants to be peaking for the Open.

It is amazing that Tiger's making these cuts no way he can be sharp like the other guys. Just can't play/practice yet he's beating some of the world's best on major layouts. One more time ... I'm taking him in the British. What's he gonna be based on today, 100/1? Depends on US Open obviously.

I'm starting to think that Tiger might be planning on leaving professional golf and he'll do that at St Andrews.

He might play at The Masters for the next few years but that will likely be it for any real professional schedule.

i'm guessing he probably talked to Charlie and stressed that you never quit a golf tournament, that he's only doing this b/c he's in physical pain.

Yep. Very different situation than when he won the US Open on one leg.

If he thought that he would not be going through what he is currently doing. He's rehabbing and trying to get back because he wants and thinks he can win again, that's it.

2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

Tiger is moving into stage 4.

Unfortunately, there are many fans still at stage 1.

Don't be sad. He had a great run. He'll always be one of the all-time greats.

he's +273 in a h2h with rory today, which are just insane odds, similar to what you'd see if rory were in the same tee group as an amateur (he's -470 lol so much ffing vig)

meanwhile in tiger's h2h with spieth it's a more standard -150/224 in favor of spieth

i like tiger in both, 12% value in h2h with spieth and 64% value in h2h vs rory but my model super flawed when it comes to low sample guys like woods

i have woods +124 and +129 vs spieth and rory which are obviously way off and heavily dependent on his historical stuff (had him ranked way lower for the last major but he's risen for this one with recent performance)
rick, did you lose some profits by doubling down on Tiger yday?

Anti-Christ of sports betting loaded up on Tiger over 74 in round 2, laid 133 for 3K. I didn't like it. No brilliance on my part as I wouldn't have liked it for round 3 either. But I kept telling him not to pick one round, get all 4 rounds blow up factor by betting his final position instead of specific round blow up. That play won in both the Masters and here in PGA. So anyway he gets buried by trying to pick the very round.

That might be a sage call up above that Tiger is starting to move away from the game at British then a few ceremonial rounds. But I'm selling, because there will be plenty of time a year and two from now when he is relatively pain free. And what's he going to do? Play.

Not really. I know how you mean it but it isn't really the case. Almost everybody who has this type surgery, including two in my family (one car wreck, one extreme skateboarding decimation), if no infection or circulation complications (about 10%), return to normal life and even athletics. The frickin thing is stronger than ever, like he has a titanium golf club for a tibia, and if no circulation issues it heals great. It leaves the issue of inflammation with heavy use.

That is why the amazing thing is that these championship set ups require sharpness and precision of the world's best ... and he makes the cut 2-for-2 when half the greatest/sharpest players in the world don't. He's mega rusty, way outside of his routine to get sharp. I think it's the walking and standing for 5 hours plus warmup time that is breaking him down. He can still play and compete and win if they pass some "Tiger Rule" allowing carts.

I still say he gets 83.

tiger isn't part of my model, all my stuff that's low sample weirdness which my model likes but has no genuine basis for liking goes into a separate tab that isn't actioned unless i feel like degenning it up and then i'll include in the vig free thread cause in theory any bet with vig removed is ev neutral so happy to go with it there but alas nobody booked it and took the free money fading tiger

i post all my "fair lines" in crowdsource syndicate, this is the yearly total, the "low sample weirdness results speak for themselves, in fact i may just start auto fading those matchups and taking opposite half if i get a bigger sample that shows it's not purely bad luck but my model genuinely always likes the bad side on low sample matchups

i'm not going to inundate this thread with a full list of "fair lines" so trimmed the post but if you click on the quoted post you'll see it all

Without heavy use it's going to calm down and he's going to be relatively pain free in spurts. And then he's going to play golf. Back your sucker arse up to me and bet.

I think he'll make it to Saturday, probably 1-2 above the cut-line. He might even briefly flirt with the leader-board.

His undoing will be round 3, when the physical stress of having played at least 85 holes* (perhaps more) in the last 7 days with a fused back and reconstructed leg will take it's toll. That's where he'll crash and burn. This will also largely be the pattern for his career going forward.

*According to Golf Digest, he arrived @ St. Andrews on Saturday, and has already played 49 holes there as of last Monday.

I think it's pretty funny that people actually think they know more than Tiger when it comes to how much activity he can handle. The guys a freak athlete and travels with a team of trainers if you don't think he's had a planned schedule weeks ago for leading up to the Open your an idiot.

I think it's pretty funny that you don't remember him crashing and burning in the 3rd round at the PGA, then withdrawing from the tourney.
I think it's pretty funny that you think "a team of trainers" can somehow make up for having smashed both of his legs into a half-dozen pieces 19 months ago.

Mostly though, I think it's pretty funny that, in a thread designed for people to offer their opinion about the future of Tiger's career, you seem quite offended that I would come here and offer an opinion about the future of Tiger's career.

BTW, over in the Open Championship thread, don't you have him as one of your 3 picks to win the Open this weekend? Yea....Tiger slappies gonna do what they do, I guess.
