maybe the target demographics that root for Rory, Dustin Johnson, Ricky Fowler, Jason Day, etc. probably can't/won't put up $20 to watch on pay per view. Where as us old AF guys will, just for the spectacle of the thing.

It seems like they should have tried to partner up with a gambling website and try and market the prop betting aspect of it. Betting on closest to the pins/GIR/sand saves ect would make this a much more interesting event to watch.
