Simmons claimed they couldn't get a full 64, but I don't buy it. It would be much better if they added in some fringe characters like Judge Phelan or Namond's mother as 16 seeds than not including people like Slim Charles.

Can't get to 64? Is Grantland unaware of imdb?

Apparently. I see their point adding a character like Theresa D'Agostino would be playing allowing Stephen F. Austin to make March Madness, like that would ever happen.

Sergei's memorable, but, yeah, shouldn't be in this thing.

Feel bad for Ziggy. Love him, but going against Omar

Hard to come up with 32 more legit characters, though I think you could make a case for a lot of these people:

Slim
Pearlman
Nicky Sobotka
Steve Earl (character name ?)
Johnny Weeks
Poot
Snot Boogie
Landsman
Haynes
Rawls
Burrell
Carver
The Greek
Spiros
Beadie Russel
Randy
Namond
Kenard
Valcheck
Clarence Royce

So there's 20. Can anyone add 12 more?

Really though, they didn't miss anyone too big imo. Bracket looks good and it's not as though Slim was getting too far, though his season 5 interaction with Cheese was A+.

how the eff did landsman get let off ? he's my #1 on the entire show, i mean who says **** like this

"He was the black sheep, a permanent pariah. He asked no quarter of the bosses and none was given. He learned no lessons; he acknowledged no mistakes; he was as stubborn a Mick as ever stumbled out of the Northeast parish just to take up a patrolman's shield. He brooked no authority. He did what he wanted to do and he said what he wanted to say, and in the end he gave me the clearances. He was natural police. And I don't say that about many people, even when they're here on the felt. I don't say that often unless it happens to be true. Nat'ral po-lice. But Christ, what an *******.
And I'm not talking about the ordinary gaping orifice that all of us possess. I mean an all-encompassing, all-consuming, out-of-proportion-to-every-other-facet-of-his-humanity chasm — if I may quote Shakespeare — "from whose bourn no traveler has ever returned." He gave us thirteen years on the line. Not enough for a pension. But enough to know that he was, despite his negligible Irish ancestry, his defects of personality, and his inconstant sobriety and hygiene, a true murder police. Jimmy, I say this seriously. If I was laying there dead on some Baltimore street corner, I'd want it to be you standing over me catchin' the case. Because brother, when you were good, you were the best we had."

there's plenty more, you didn't list anybody like gus or templeton or gutierrez from season 5. dock workers like horseface, other detectives on homicide rotation

They could have done a play in round for the more fringe characters.

And how the **** are Prezbo (8) and Bubbles (7) lower seeds than Cutty?

Bunny vs Serge is the weakest matchup by far. Neither one deserve to be in the second round.

Prezbo gonna Gonzaga.

Just brainstorming for the Wire WW game we came up with like 75 characters. There are 84 characters listed ON THE SHOW'S PAGE ON HBO, for God's sake.

Haynes = Gus fwiw.

Templeton could def be on there, you're right. Not a favorite of anyone, but he represents something significant.

Wasn't trying to name every character btw. Just ones good enough to be put on the bracket. Not sure if there are 64 legit ones

Seriously, you could probably get to 96 without too much trouble. Stopping at 32 is a joke.

The only real solution, of course, would be to make our own bracket, but didn't someone already do that?

They had Michael Schur post a 64 person bracket this afternoon. I agree Slim should be on just for season five, even though we usually forget that season.

Reading this person of interest story on Rasheed Wallace. It calls him "one of the most beloved athletes of the last 20 years". I can't read the rest of the article because I keep thinking either i'm misreading that line or missing the irony or something.

Marlo can't be happy that he is a 2 seed. His name is his name.

And why put Chris, Michael, and Snoop in the same region? They worked together, should be separated.

I can't wait for the 'Treme' bracket featuring all of America's favorite characters: That woman from The Fighter, the chick from Deadwood, and the guy who was Lester Freamon on The Wire.
