Those oral history pieces are the best things Grantland does, I haven't seen one yet that hasn't been tremendous.

Every time there's something good on Grantland it just makes me annoyed that people aren't publishing that stuff somewhere else under their own banner. I really think that the internet does a good enough job of sorting the good stuff to the top that people shouldn't have to attach themselves to a simple minded hack like Simmons.

There's definitely no way that the money and notoriety provided by Simmons/ESPN is the reason these writers have the funding and access to do these elaborate oral histories. They should just start a blogspot or something, it's free!

yeah

as much as I can't stand Simmons (I stopped reading him years ago), he's had some good ideas and used his influence to put them into action.

30 for 30 and these oral histories being two examples.

podcast with Chris Paul and Dave Cowens was good. Cowens part was better. Detailed talk about he guarded Kareem and how he played. He should be head coach somewhere.

Kerr podcast not nearly as good.

Ok, interviewing the president is pretty damn neat. LOL at "did you buy it yourself or did you expense it to the White House?"

That interview was pretty good, even though it was full of dumb Simmonsisms ("whos your favorite Wire character?" "did you block the Chris Paul trade? *LOL*), as hearing Obama speak on non-political issues is always entertaining. Its pretty funny to picture Chris Paul telling Blake, "hey, the President thinks you should take more jumpers..."
