Apparently Porto are looking to acquire FC Twente's Bryan Ruiz (and have tried last winter too), offering 7.5m euro's while Twente want 10m. He mostly plays as a right winger, dropping deep and/or drifting inside to make the play - are they preparing for an inevitable Hulk departure or will they play him elsewhere on the pitch?

Preparing for the Falcao departure and moving Hulk to the middle imo

Hmm, I hope it doesn't happen just so that Iturbe gets as much playing time as possible.

Rumour has it that Young had a medical on Friday and will be a United player soon. The source has a good track record, is very knowledgeable about the club and doesn't seem like the WUMming type but who knows. The guy attends all the youth and reserve matches, even the ones which are played behind closed doors so I'm tempted to give this a little more credence than the usual rumour. Apparently the info is straight from the club doctors.

Funny how quick things can go, these 2010 Eredivisie champions are mostly gone:

Stoch(Turkey?)---------N'Kufo(retired)-------Ruiz (Spain soon?)
-------------Perez (retired)
---------Janssen (Ajax)--------Brama
Braafheid(Germany)--Douglas---Wisgerhof----Stam (wigan's bench?)
-------------Boschker(old, 2nd choice)

Or maybe Braafheid left earlier? Can't recall. Tioté and Arnautovic (not sure about him) were also in that squad iirc.

I think Arnautovic was on loan at Inter that season.

Twente are just getting rid of their players to make way for all the young Brazilians we will send their way on loan in the next few years. Gladstony (what a name) I think is already there and Rafael Leao will probably join up soon as well.

I doubt anyone is headed out at united wrt to the young deal, seems more as replacing giggs.

Btw, kdawg, I called this a while ago. Young seems a good fit for united imo.

Rafinha, former Schalke, last two years CFC Genua wing back confirmed to Bayern for 5.5M€. This probably means Lahm will play left back with Rafinha on the right. Don't know how I feel about this deal, haven't seen him play a lot...

I like Rafinha as a player and he will surely improve the team, but I thought Bayern would go for a better player, seems like they actually can't just spend money at will and went for a cheaper player. You probably also get problems off the pitch with him when he comes back late from holiday in Brazil etc.

£18m is the rumoured price for Young. Holy God, that is alot.

Just imagine if he had 3 years left on his contract! We might be paying over £50m!

Kicker reports that Gladbach is about to get Joshua King from Utd on loan, any innformation about him from someone who follows Utd reserve?

He's fast and direct, versatile in that he can play in wide positions as well and has pretty good technical skills. He scores a lot at reserve level but so do a lot of players. Many United fans rate him very highly, I'm not so sure. He's in an awkward spot sandwiched between Hernandez, Welbeck and Macheda who are older than him and Will Keane and John Cofie who are a year younger and both are very promising players. It will be very interesting to follow his progress, though the last time we sent a player on loan to Germany he never came back (even though the talk about an option for a permanent transfer at the end of the deal has been denied by his agent). His weaknesses are probably on the tactical side of things, decision making, movement, being a little too selfish at times etc, though regular playing time could be just the thing to improve those areas.

Sounds good, I think he'd either play on the wing or as a 2nd striker for Gladbach.
