also says City/Pool in the mix

I honestly wouldn't be too upset about it. I wish we could get more than 5.5M pounds since he's a 25 year old French international who has been pretty good in the past (also, there is a huge lack of depth at the LB position worldwide) but with only 1 year on his contract left and a tremendous dip in form the past year (he has been the weakest link in defense this year), it wouldn't be the worse thing in the world. Gibbs offers more going forward though is even more a liability in the back. Hope we sign someone like Baines/Coentrao/Enrique to replace him but that's prob doubtful. Maybe we can get a bidding war started and get that pricetag up to 8-10M range.

a shame we didn't sell him last year. It was rumored that Real put in a 12M bid and we rejected it. Of course, that was before Marcelo decided to figure out how to play football.

Rangers are skint and i doubt Celtic want him.

and he's already playing in Scotland with Kilmarnock.

Fraser Forster went back to Newcastle from Celtic (cos Pardew is FOS) leaving the no.1 spot open.....

there is a spot for him and he said wages will not stand in the way, has to be a good chance he moves to us.

The Parkhead club would need to find funds for the deal but Given said: “Nothing is insurmountable. I don’t think it would be a stumbling block.”
still talk of Westwood on a free, no idea how concrete.

He must be on at least double the top earner at Celtic, it'd probably need City to keep paying a % of his wages or else Given being willing to take a massive paycut.

Everton, Leicester and even City are reported to be interested in Westwood as well. Born in Manchester and started his career at City. Hopefully he opts to go somewhere he will play though.

Liverpool will sign Scott Dann, just a matter of how much for.

Problem with being selective with links is that your average sport journalist's "research" generally consists of trawling tribal/goal.com/fan forums and using their links so they eventually find their way into more respectable publications anyway.

aiden, stuff like tribal, goal.com, and caughtoffsides are consistently trash though. While the sun puts out rumors like they're going out of style at least they get a good number of them right

No, he was just on loan from Metalist. Metalist want ~£1m for him and afaik Killies can't afford that.

still i doubt Celtic are interested. (he's not very good on my limited viewings = 2 or 3 games)

I agree 100%, might as well cite http://www.football-rumours.co.uk/ as a legitimate source as tribal et al. Was more of a statement on the low standards in the general media as well when it comes to transfer rumours. This scientist in me keeps yelling "CITATION PLEASE".

Marty tomorrow's Sun is reporting £12m bids for both Downing and Cattermole from Liverpool.

They're also reporting a bidding war between Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal for James McCarthy, afaik we had a bid for him rejected late in January.

Lol what? Dalglish has money to spend and he's not being shy about it, maybe wenger should take a leaf out of his book, would serve arsenal well.

cattermole is not what they need IMO, McCarthy should fit in well enough tho.

Ta langer.

so if Cattermole wasn't English then he'd cost about £3m?

Whats a good number? I doubt tabloids have a hit rate of better than 10%.

there's a big difference between some of the papers that have actually sources within an organization that are leaking information, and "this sportsmail reporter has learned..."
