Lol if 3 pages of describing food is your best criticism, you must despise LotR.

I've read a ****ton of SciFi/fantasy. GRRM is obviously not a top writer that wins accolades and awards. However for such a book series where the world and plot is really in top percentiles of the genre, it's hard to complain about his actual prose being bad when it's really above average. Like have any of you tried reading Goodkind? Holy bejeebus.

yeah i havent made to those parts but even reading 3 words of grrm describing sex have to be a bottom tier life activity on par with chugging lite beer in your room alone or beating off to a comic book or something

He's not a particularly good writer. But his characters are deep and fairly interesting. The most tedious part of the books was when I would turn a page and the headline for the next chapter said "Catelyn" or "Bran." I would reply, "****" out loud and then soldier on.

It's quite possible to have enjoyed the story and not enjoyed how it was written.

Any watch Rectify? I just got around to starting the second season. I think it's really damn good, but if you like your TV with stuff blowing up and three second conversations you might be disappointed and think it's a little slow.

GRRM's best trolls might be his unbelievably long descriptions of food, which in GoT is what I guess they'd eat in the middle ages in Europe. Who gives a flying **** what a lamprey pie looks like?
