I saw this article earlier and I'm still stupefied at some of the rankings.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ng-to-research

Jay Cutler and Matt Forte on the Dem lists, Sam Bradford on three lists. Peyton Manning only on one list. No Aaron Rodgers, Steph Curry or Michael Jordan. I guess I can see Aikman and Bradshaw due to prominent roles on NFL broadcasts but man those are some confusing lists. I'd really like to see some actual numbers.

Apparently the NFC Central fan bases are strongly Democratic. Except Green Bay.

Right. For that to be true it'd have to be an error across all firms and states, and it would have to be YUUUUGE to get Trump from where he is now to 270.

There was a poll released showing Clinton +9, and there was a big national poll showing Clinton +8(I think).

This post is on my list of things to write, so stand by for more detail, but a candidates lead in my Super Poll is translated into a winning % based on 1) how big the Super Poll sample is 2) how far we are from election day and 3) (obv) how big the candidate's lead in the super poll is.

Those two polls moved up Clinton's aggregate lead in FL and increased the sample size.

Here's how that looks for florida right now, x-axis is polling lead, y-axis is probability of winning. When I put those polls in for FL yesterday, the Blue line moved right AND the gray curve got sharper.

Julian Edelman is the second most popular athlete among male Democrats. Did his mom run the poll?

I think it's proof that male Dems are much shorter than make Goppers

And much more Massachusettsey

Whereas Bradford was, at the time, literally in the middle of flyover country and he's tall with a square jaw and he comes from a good family

Thanks for posting, this article was fantastic.

I lurk here a lot more than I post here, and it's great to see people rise above the poo-flinging and provide thought-provoking and discussion-provoking content.

I thought this was informative too.

I dunno what I think about it.

I'm an Obamacare success story.

Not poor enough for Medicaid, not rich enough to afford health insurance on my own, young enough that I probably didn't need it, scared enough of rolling the health outcomes variance dice to come up snake eyes that my insurance gives me peace of mind.

I pay $50/mo for health insurance, which I can afford, and I think my subsidy covers something like $300-350/mo, which I probably could not comfortably afford.

I see a psychiatrist and have prescriptions that improve my quality of life. I also could afford a colonoscopy that I needed, and follow ups with a gastroenterologist.

The taxpayers and I are probably net-subsidizing Blue Cross's older patients, but overall, I definitely think I've come out ahead.

the "fines" from obamacare should themselves ratchet up the price of plans given how they move opportunity cost

before buy insurance for 1500 or don't buy and pay 0 vs now buy insurance for 2500 or pay 1k in fines. more or less equivalent situations
