They may or may not know, but the main thing is that they don't care what the legal code says. They ****ing hate immigrants, and that is really all there is to it. They will use whatever justification is convenient to keep any and all out, and to kick out any that are here. Trying to argue that, legally, crossing the border is a crime no worse than pissing on Trump Tower, means nothing. It is an affront to their white nationalism, and that is what matters.

FAKE NEWS!!!
oh wait
source: Customs and Border Protection

can't quite put my finger on why this is such an important issue that families need to be torn apart as a deterrent, a wall needs to be built (that USA#1 is gonna pay for now, it seems), etc .....

so much "economic anxiety"

sad!

an alternative explanation for that is that Obama's fairly tough immigration policy and Trump's insane immigration policies are deterring border crossings. Not defending Trump's policies but a predictable result is decreased border crossings. Which is a stated goal of the policy.

I think Trump's immigration policies are abhorrent. But of course they would disincentive folks from crossing the border. How could they not? And that's exactly what the administration wants. Just because something is evil doesn't mean it's not effective.

I dont think there has been enough time passed to adequately measure it.

Undoubtedly, although the increasing focus on immigration in the later 2000s and the relatively strident immigration policies of the Obama administration were probably a factor in the decreasing trend in that graph. Did Trump's very harsh campaign rhetoric have a further impact in 2017? I think it's likely. And these insane policies will have an even larger impact.

Trump wants the graph to look like it did 1961, and the inhumane policies he's implementing is how he's planning on doing it.

I can think of something else from 2008 that might impact immigration significantly

of course? No one said immigration policy is the only thing that effects illegal immigration. But the fall in that graph started after 9/11 and continued throughout Bush's presidency (although there were OTHER REASONS for the big dip in 2001-2003). And Obama's immigration policy was largely a continuation of Bush's.

they agreed bc they're worthless
now they're saying that they won't release the transcript of the interview either

I have no idea how to even organize such a thing, but a non-violent response at this point would be to start a nationwide boycott of any company who advertises on fox news. No winning this battle without taking out the propaganda machine.

Fox News would be profitable if every last advertiser dropped them (wild guess). You'd have to get a cable package without them, which prob means cutting the cord. For example, every Comcast cable package that includes Fox is worth $1.50/mo. https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/com...ews-1483300195

I'm pretty much already boycotting everything but Bayer, P&G, Honda, Berkshire Hathaway, Nestle, and potatoes.

NBC is reporting that the feds’ new desert tent city outside of Tornillo, Texas, is preparing for more than 4,000 children. 20 to a tent. Expected high in Tornillo tomorrow: 106 degrees.
as toxic as this story is, i assume this will continue through this month at least
(unless the Dems cave ..... ah who am i kidding, ofc they'll cave and pass some ****ty immigration bill w/ wall etc)

think everyone already acknowledged that, as Drumpf attempts to leverage this into a wall

they could use some news cover for:
