We owe virtually all of our prosperity to the wars we've won in the past. As does the world. Things would be a lot worse if our might did not exist.

Nothing wrong with reminding the world of that now and then.

For some reason the following really made me shudder in a "he's just like Woody only more arrogant" way:

Chinese President Xi Jinping tried to explain the complexities of Korean history to President Trump last weekend at Mar a Lago.
There is...so much wrong there.

This is actually an ongoing concern. Vice had a good ep a while back where they discuss what a difficult time North Korean defectors have in SK and elsewhere. They're like real life versions of Encino Man.

A follow-up to the horrifying story about the Chinese President giving Trump a Korean history lesson, as told by Trump (from TNR):

Quote:
“After listening for 10 minutes, I realized it’s not so easy. I felt pretty strongly that they had a tremendous power [over] North Korea. ... But it’s not what you would think.” Trump, in other words, is still in the midst of figuring this out. It’s like he’s taking International Relations 101 while being president of the world’s superpower.
I'm not sure why "It's like" is being used there.

For the love of god, somebody, maybe Ivanka, if you're listening, could you tell the President of the United States to not use the phrase, "After listening for 10 minutes, I realized..." when it comes to some sort of major geopolitical reality? I know he thinks it makes him sound smart, is the thing ("Stupid Hillary would have had to listen for hours or days or years.").

Is that good?
I was corrected upthread on this, that figure was cited early on in business insider and elsewhere but that's for like 20 of the bombs, they're actually much cheaper only $16MM apiece

One difference this time around (if there's a war) is that there's no Soviet Union to back up NK like last time. China certainly helped too but the Soviets actually flew migs against US pilots last time around. I highly doubt Russia sticks their nose in here given how busy they are in Syria atm.

But NK having nukes probably more than negates all of that.

Maybe we can reanimate zombie MacArthur and un-fire him and just let him fix everything.

(anniversary of his firing was 3 days ago)

people really need to get over the idea that Ivanka or Kushman are at all out of step with DA DOVE, gaf about you or anything they represent, are going to be the heroes we need here, or anything of the sort.

their PR team sure seems to be pulling their weight tho...
(though believing the best about a pretty girl seems to be an easy sell)

Has anyone actually surveyed people going to prison and asked them stuff like "How pumped are you to be going to jail, what with the meals and sheets and all?" I always hear stuff about how prisoners have it so easy, stories of how lavish prison is, they love it there, etc. I have a feeling being denied your freedom still totally sucks.

"Daddy, you sound stupid when you say you learned something Presidential by paying attention for 10 minutes." feels more like her wheelhouse than any of that other stuff, but perhaps it's a Tiffany kind of job anyway.

nah, like you said he thinks he's the smartest man alive and thus can master complex subjects in a matter of seconds
considering something for 10 minutes is a ****ing eternity for him
(though i'm guessing he tuned out after like 30 seconds in reality)

and there's still no evidence that he listens to her about anything
or that they've been championing any worthwhile causes

Money and power! Those with good hearts will think about helping those below them ...after acquiring as much money and power as possible.

Why the **** are people seemingly telling me I should be happy Jared and Ivanka are the primary people influencing presidential decisions? If you start punching me in the face, then move on to working the kidneys and tell me "There, isn't that better?", it's not much better. It's just another version of my least favorite saying "it could be worse."

EDIT: Or maybe it's because I'm older than Ivanka and am not prepared to accept true oldness and see youngs run the country.
