MM is so. stupid. Why use an extra letter??? What can the M stand for?

if M = mega and k = kilo than obviously one is enough.

If M = roman number than M = 1000 (gross) and MM = 2000. 1,000,000 in roman numerals is an M with a line over it.

Also M can just be short for Million, not MillionMillion. The whole thing is infuriating.

Or loser. The better analogy would be leaving the table because the house keeps increasing the rake, while the dealer and house are crazy and ruining your experience.

no the analogy is the same as the reason I (and most other ppl) dont play live poker. bc I dont like being surrounded by scumbags.

now, I can handle it and reasonably sure I wont turn into a pos and for the most part I can also seek tables with less annoying aholes. but I cant be sure my kid will.

INVESTORS ARE HOPING to seize upon the $1 trillion infrastructure plan proposed by President Donald Trump to transform the nation’s highways, bridges, and tunnels into assets they can monetize by adding tolls and other user fees.

The Trump infrastructure plan, which the administration plans to roll out this week, is centered on the idea of “asset recycling,” which refers to the process of securing new infrastructure spending by leasing the operations of existing public property to private operators.

I mean people are loving states rights and cities taking power into their own hands with regard to refugees and pollution.

Trump's super 8d chess. Still fighting the derp state as well. We really don't deserve him.

And we got a great SC justice out of it.

That is a no, then. And Trump actually hates cities taking power into their own hands and is actively trying to thwart it.

NY going to end up having single payer healthcare and free college. It seems really unfair that I have to pay federal taxes.

(re: NY fee college)

Quote:
The program to provide free tuition for students at New York State’s public colleges and universities passed on Friday by the Legislature has been hailed as a breakthrough and a model for other states that will change the lives of students at public colleges across the state.

The Excelsior Scholarship, as the program is called, is expected to cut the cost of a degree from a four-year State University of New York college — now almost $83,000 for tuition, fees and room and board — by about $26,000 for an eligible family making $100,000 a year. That is a substantial reduction, but still means paying about $57,000 over four years.
are they saying room and board (and fees) is what costs the $57k for 4 years?

I assume it's that + everything else related, most of the proposals I've seen floated cover JUST tuition which is an obv substantial part of it but by no means all of it.

Professors don't want to hear this but they could cut a huge chunk of the total cost of higher education by simply selling everyone a Kindle or iPad their freshman year and put the material online, there's no good reason not to at this point other than to protect book publishers and **** those guys.

IDK if it's still this way, but years ago people in GA that I knew used to rave about how successful their state's education lottery had been, and said that any GA resident with a B or better average gets free tuition at in state schools. That could be old news now though.

this is still true. Public schools only though for full tuition, but you still get some $ for private schools. It used to cover books and fees too, but that was taken away about 5 years ago. The program has been running since the early 90s I think.

You get it by getting a 3.0 in HS or having a high enough score on the SAT or ACT or you can earn it in college (not applied retroactively) with a 3.0 in college.

The biggest negative (or positive depending on how you spin it) is that it doesn't encourage kids to branch out and leave the state because it is so much cheaper than out of state options.
