They just reported during the game that terms have been met to ship Jens back to the motherland. One whiny bitch down, two to go.

Since Diarra isn't playing, I think he's off too. I hear a couple Prem teams named, but I think its gonna be Lyon.

Pretty happy to see Gilberto playing in midfield with Diaby and Denilson.

RVP back as well.

Not all that surprising.

Geremi, Smith, and Barton were all his signings right?

You think he gets another try at the top flight? I don't know the exact circumstances about his departure from Bolton, but it seemed dodgey.

Too much cheeky stuff in the back third. Our back four looks nervous. Combine the two and you are going to be giving a pretty strong Sp*rs squad some chances.

Those 3 names look pretty good on paper. None has done much on the pitch, from what I have seen. I think he'll get another chance somewhere. Maybe a a Championship side who thinks with the right mgr they can make a move, a la Sunderland last season.

You think so? Barton is the best out of the bunch IMO, and he's a ****ing moron. Smith isn't much better.

Oh, I forgot Vaduka as well.

I mean come on though, for a team that wants to improve, you go out and sign those 4 players. Really?

Man Utd's 'real' profits as low as £5m, say critics of Glazer family
By James Chapelard
January 7, 2008 Crain's Manchester Business

Manchester United may reveal a retained profit as low as £5m when it posts its annual results later this month, according to critics of the owning Glazer family.

The club is forecasting record profits of £75m on turnover of more than £200m. But the Manchester United Supporters' Trust (MUST) — which has written several studies on the club's debts — says this is misleading.

The figure is in fact Ebitda, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation. MUST estimates the £75m profit will be shrunk by £42m through debt interest payments on loans of £575m, £23m by amortisation and £5m by depreciation.

“Projected Ebitda of £75m will be reduced by nearly £70m (£42m, £23m and £5m), pre-tax net profits will be minimal, so they will focus your attention on the higher headline number for cash operating profits (Ebitda) instead.”

Increased ground capacity has added 8,000 seats at Old Trafford but, according to MUST, much of the bottom line growth stems from a 50 per cent increase in ticket prices since the Glazer family's debt-financed takeover in 2005. A four-year £56m shirt sponsorship deal with AIG is thought to have added £13.5m to the club's revenue in 2006/2007.

MUST fears that low levels of retained profit could force ticket prices still higher. Manchester United did not respond to requests for comment.

Seeing as this is standard, what's the issue? Grumpy moaning Man U fans just can't accept they were wrong about the Glazers still?

Wrong how? There's pretty much nothing about them which is better than under the PLC, and a whole lot that's worse.

Are they doing a good job? Seem to be. Are they ego maniac media hogs? Nope, never hear of them. Is Man U profitable? Yes. Would you rather they were making £75m net? Imagine the outcry if that were the case, fleecing the club, in it for themselves etc etc. Instead, virtually all he money is being re-invested.

How many clubs would love to just be breaking even, nevermind making a small profit and fielding the best team in the country?

You have to be joking.

1 $750 million of debt and P.I.K. loans otherwise referred to as "the ticking time bombs" on which they have only begun to pay interest.

2 Automatic cup scheme.

3 50% season ticket price rise over 3 years (no longer affects me as im living in Canada ATM)

4 The systematic dismantling of one of the best youth systems in the country.

5 Total lack of communication from the board with fans groups such as MUST and IMUSA.

I read somewhere last year that the wait list for season tickets has dropped immensely. I don't know the exact figures, but I thought it was something like from 30,000 to 5,000.

That's all besides the point, we would have been all of those things still as a PLC. I don't see why we should be happy just because they haven't run the club into the floor yet, especially when net transfer spending is significantly down and ticket prices have taken a massive hike to prevent it.

Good stuff, I'm no Man U fan so if they are doing such a bad job, nice one Glazers!

I'm not really up on the finer points because I don't care tbh, however trying to spin up the fact that annual results are reported before EBITDA and this is somehow underhanded, is well, underhanded.

yeah, the red mancs are pretty ****ed, there's some hedge fund with a hudge interest rate that isnt even gonna start to be repaid until 2012 just for starters.

and also ****ing the supporters around, they pay enough in petrol getting to every game from guildford ffs.

TSC, i just lisetened to teh game on the radio, i'm not gonna pay £46 to watch our reserves.

rules question : obviously walcott's handball to score was ball to hand (undebatable imo), can you score with a handball technically even if its accidental?

Can't you get a cheaper ticket?

As for your question, I am not a ref, but I live close to a Holiday Inn Express, so I believe the answer is no.
