I personally think Sonic 1 > Sonic 2 not just as a pick but as a game. Sonic 2 is pretty ****ing lame from the time you get all the Chaos Emeralds. Go golden, pwntwn, repeat.

If SMRPG was random non franchise RPG it dosent go until round 6 or later. It wasn't all that deep, is short for an RPG and really dosen't have that much replayability.

So if I enjoyed SMRPG and have never really played another true RPG game, where should I look to start playing more of them? I have Wii so VC downloads are possible, also PS1 and PS2 RPGS as well. FF6 or Chrono Trigger perhaps?

I mean, if you've never played those, you should.

It's so hard to find Let's Plays featuring voiceovers that aren't completely unacceptably dorktastic. Take elocution lessons or something. Jesus Christ.

MP series is awesome, minus blood mazes.

Totally depends on what type of rpg you like. Action rpg's are more common now, since most traditional rpgs have been pretty poor iirc. I think ps2 was the last system to do them well. Psx and snes the others obv

Do Chrono Trigger and/or LTTP have those standard JRPG turn-based party battles? I noticed this screenshot in the Wiki for FFVI:

and I'm kinda meh on those. I played all the way through Eternal Sonata and they started to wear on me over time, and those were a fair bit more interesting since they add some real-time stuff into the battle equation.

Chrono and FF6 are semi turn based. You get turns after a certain amount of time and so does the enemy, so you do have to be active

Eternal Sonata sucks. Being more complex does not always equal being more interesting or fun. Those types of battles are also considerably more tolerable in older RPGs, where there aren't long animations to sit through and characters screaming annoying things in Japanese. Fully voiced games have been the death of JRPGs and adventures.

And no, LTTP is nothing like that and I'm frankly shocked that you would have to ask.

yeah LttP is like Zelda 1, def not turn based.

not sure what to call it though, action RPG or some [censored]?
