He's 33. Some team will overpay him for 5 years

I agree. And I'm certainly no hockey expert, just things I read or heard about the trade, was that Rrantanen style of play didn't really fit with the way Carolina likes to play.

Instead of losing him for nothing, you got Stankoven who's a nice young player.

For sure. Ultimately I think it worked out for us and you, but it sucked watching Rantanen tank our team for a few weeks because he was unhappy. It seemed like a combo of style of play, the area, etc., but supposedly him and Aho are pretty close since they're both Finnish. The Avs probably got the shortest end of the stick.

We turned Necas, Drury, a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round pick into Hall, Stankoven, two conditional 1sts, and two 3rds. I've really liked watching Stankoven play and hope we can sign him long term. Hall has been nice too.

Players are getting smart though. Lets say he can command 11 million on the open market and only gets 9 million in Dallas he may still be getting paid more if he signed in LA or Canada or NY

Lmao Domi

Can't stand the guy but he'll rise in my esteem if he throws some elbows at the right guy's heads. Unfortunately if anything he'd probably go after Barkov or whoever

On unimportant matters regarding jersey colours, there is a fine line between "gold" and "monkey-puke yellow." Nashville has a similar problem but one of the recent retro Jerseys that the Boston Bruins had were the nut low.

In fairness, though, the Vegas road jerseys look slightly better live than on TV.

rant time and I don't care if I sound logical right now:

vegas toothless knights confirmed and they need to get rid of at least half of this aging WIL roster going into next season any way possible. I don't care about salary cap rules. hertl the turtle is the first to go.

bruce cassidy should still be the coach btw....he's still good but he can't score goals for these losers....

fwiw congrats to the few oilers fans itt (lozen and a few other lurkers I think). the stars will be a more formidable foe in the conference finals...but I'm pretty sure u knew that already.

I hate the golden shower VGK home jerseys. The original ones were way better.

yeah prob not logical, but who's logical when their team gets knocked out?

5v5 adjusted xg numbers:
(regular season / playoffs)

saad 63% / 55%
dorofeyev 57% / 55%
hertl 57% / 59%
korczak 56% / 26%*
karlsson 56% / 51%
smith 56% / 43%
olofsson 56% / 44%
mcnabb 55% / 50%
hanifin 55% / 44%
stone 54% / 52%
eichel 54% / 50%
barbashev 53% / 47%
theodore 53% / 56%
pietrangelo 53% / 44%
whitecloud 52% / 51%
kolesar 52% / 52%
howden 51% / 35%
roy 51% / 54%
schwindt 50% / 52%
hague 48% / 48%
pearson 47% / 45%
* only played 1 playoff game

looks like hertl was actually one of the better players, regular season and playoffs ... by xg, anyway. saad was also really effective? crazy. biggest dropoffs were from smith, olofsson, hanifin, pietrangelo and howden. was korczak injured? played effectively during the season, then just 1 playoff game.

hard to know what to make of it all. there were 8 teams over 54% xg during the season, and vgk were one of them (6th, behind jets, kings, lightning, leafs and capitals, ahead of blues and stars), but they got beat diwn by the loilers, who were actually pretty bad this season. maybe it means nothing because something something sample size, idk

Oilers may be the only CDN team left

Aiden Hill almost stole it

Leafs looked so bad and let’s not blame Mitch Marner , Mathew’s has had a bad series
