good news, everyone!: the laffs have changed their team slogan from "No grit. No grind. No greatness." to "No grit, no grind, no greatness."

i had to read them like 5 times to understand how they weren't just trolling themselves

apparently the canucks slogan last season was "Embrace The Hard" ... i had no idea
mostly just sounds kinda gay (nttawwt)

these things are so dumb, and all just different variations of WALK HARD WERK or whatever. the real key to success is having the best players, so yeah admittedly it's difficult to build a slogan around this teams sucks because the gm is incompetent or some such

The two I immediately thought about was Goalie Bob and Eichel. Both at exactly $10 million.

Matthews did 4 years. Kaprizov saga going on right now, Tavares signed for less money. If they set the salary cap in stone sometime this year, then yes, players will and should do maximum deals. They are already talking about raising it more the next few years than what has been decided.

Shifty, are you the NHLPA?

Cause they are yapping at McDavid not to take less money, cause that affects contracts coming up, then you got Matthews in McDavid's ear to come to Toronto. Very interesting situation and next year for the NHL.

Matthews was a bridge as an RFA he's not signing a 4 year next one, Kaprizov isn't either, JT took a hometown discount with term and I don't think it was much less money.

No, I just think it's delusional to expect a guy that's worked his entire life to be the best, to take a 2 year deal as a UFA to see if the team gets be better around him.

Funny thing is I am in my last year of contract, never again on a longer one. I work with complete morons though.

Short contract is risky for players as they could get injured or decline.

Mcdavid really wants to stay in Edmonton he would have signed max by now.

Kaprizov signed a bridge deal when he was an RFA that walked him to free agency. It was actually a longer deal than I thought at 5 years.

Exactly, so any other examples other than your condescending "um Kaprizov"?

Habs 2C problem is well documented. Dach seems stable on his knee early in the preseason practices. Highlights of him battling with Arber Xhekaj (who also is looking good as the likely 6th D man) has most thinking he will be ready to start the season, which was in doubt a month ago. Dach was something like -30 last year and idk 43% faceoffs. But that was coming off another season ending knee injury in game 2 two years ago where Dach was, at that time, looking strong and on the way up. So, that is one unknown to look at. Moves may have to be made. Habs have extra D men and quality prospects to deal if need be.

To begin though, it seems likely Dach will center line 2 between Laine and Demidov (aka Demigod!). Both the wingers practiced a lot together this summer and Laine had his first healthy off season in years, is playing for a new contract, and seems to be in good shape and a good head space.

There is one spot open in the bottom 6...Florian Xhekaj? Joe Veleno? Joshua Roy? Oliver Kapanen?

Excitement abounds in Hab land with Zachary Bolduc and Noah Dobson added to the squad.

There are probably 3 or 4 Jets prospects that could play in a top-six.

Maybe none will make the team.

It's so hard to tell when they aren't playing with or against NHL players.
