meh im like a 1/10 on a madness scale compared to greear, but i suppose i shouldn't really even try to talk hockey with someone who says that the UFA the wings pick up after lidstrom retires will play better. Mclellan had marleau and couture practice on different lines yesterday. its looking like Mclellan is going to switch up marleau and couture, for more size and strength in the middle of the ice.

why would be mess with the Jumbo & Marleau cycling combo that has been so dominant in the series so far? i don't think that the WANGZ can counter that, and yet he breaks it up for no reason? weird.

it could be to counter what the red wings are probably going to do which is breaking up pavel and zetts. he might feel more comfortable with having marleau on the ice when zetts is on instead of a rookie in couture. I was reading on twitter that it isnt a lock to happen, but they were switched up in practice.

Im on your side though i think, in the sense of why fix something thats not broken?

didn't they break up Datsyuk and Zetterberg last game? and doesn't it not matter because Zetterberg doesn't look quite healthy? seems like Coach is out-thinking himself here.

i didnt notice them being broken up, but ya I think its "fancy play syndrome" to change whats working. Well see tonight if he goes through with it.

btw i found this article on crankshaft thats pretty awesome, it talks about how hes played such a big part in the red wings only getting two goals this series.

i agree with all the stuff in the article obv, watching murray come into his own has been pretty awesome. I remember when i watched him in the beginning of the year and he was physical but would take him self out of position sometimes. He also looked really clumsy and unpolished, and even though he still has some things to work on it really seems like he came a long way.

i hope you aren't referring to Thornton's ability to affect the game defensively because that is surely not the case. Granted he probably faces a top line most of the time he is a career -23 in the playoffs, -11 in your failed cup run alone last year, and is currently 0 in these playoffs. He is anything but a plus and more of a liability if you are strictly speaking defensively.

Judging by what Versus has done thus far in the playoffs, they'll join when the Bruins game is over.

It's on Comcast California at 5pm, if you go somewhere with a good satellite package (I stayed at a house in Tahoe a couple months ago that had literally every regional sports network in the US and Canada on their satellite) they should have it. Hopefully NHL Center Ice would have it too.
