It's funny, the Islanders and LOILers (and Panthers!) have some of the best players for NHL 11's Ultimate Team mode

..........but they suck

I hate Ultimate Team. I always get so close to getting some really good players by spending pucks and then my entire damn team needs a contract. I also can't stand playing offline so beating up on the computer in tournaments isn't really an option. The online tournaments are always my 79/76/73 team against a 96/94/90 team.

Yeah, it got old really fast for me. I actually have a pretty good team right now:

Bergenheim - Nielsen - Okposo
Clowe - Thornton - Pavelski
<forget> - Laich - Fehr
OHL scrub - OHL scrub - OHL scrub

Murray - Demers
M. Stuart - Boychuk
Brookbank - Eminger

Pavelec
Scrub

...but playing games in that mode is so incredibly tilting that I have almost no desire to use them.

Etats forgot perennial Vezina contender Rick DiPietro.

what do you smart hockey guys think of the Leafs picking up Todd White. He's been a solid 2nd/3rd C around for years. Looks like he has good faceoff numbers, has been put up against other teams better lines, and was getting 2nd line minutes in Atl.

I just don't see where the leafs are going with a guy like Brent at centre. I don't see how he really fits into their 2-3 year plan, or really helps this team this season. At least White (depending on contract) would give them a solid guy that could bounce between 2nd and 3rd line minutes.

(or are LTIR guys not subject to escrow either?)

Todd White seems decidedly average and stopgappy (but maybe that's your point, that he is in a good way), and i probably wouldn't bother. but then again i haven't ever seen him play much, so what the hell do i know? i agree he'd be better than Brent, whoever that is...he supposed to actually play decent minutes for the TML this year?

2. New Jersey Devils
3. Buffalo Sabres (Miller doesn't die in the end)
4. Philadelphia Flyers
5. Pittsburgh Penguins
6. Ottawa Senators (despite getting LECLAIRE'D their offense still manages)
7. Tampa Bay Lightning
8. Carolina Hurricanes (always find a way)
9. Boston Bruins (Savard dies)
10. Atlanta Thrashers
11. New York Islanders
12. Montreal Canadiens (get Price'd)
13. Florida Panthers
14. New York Rangers (they're like Toronto, except people care marginally less, so they're marginally less bad)
15. Toronto Maple Failures (the team really has the feel of a 4th rate Washington Capitals. That is... some flash up front but absolutely nothing to back it up anywhere in terms of anything. A bunch of names with no heart and grit. Despite this, Kessel still scores 50, but Leafs probably score 150 or less all season.)

Western Conference

1. Chicago Blackhawks (1st most points)
2. San Jose Sharks (3rd most points)
3. Calgary Flames (5th most points)
4. Detroit Red Wings (2nd most points)
5. L.A. Kings (4th most points)
6. Vancouver Canucks (the team is garbage)
7. Edmonton Oilers (Hall/CTRL-V/Eberle go Godmode. Gerber & Khabi hold down the fort)
8. Phoenix Coyotes (Doan + Wellwood + Fiddler et all = WIM)
9. Nashville Predators
10. St. Louis Blues
11. Anaheim Ducks
12. Dallas Stars (when your 3rd best skater is Steve Ott... )
13. Colorado Avalanche
14. Minnesota Wild
15. Columbus Blue Jackets (trade Nash already)

Eastern conference playoffs:

1v8: Hurricanes > Capitals in like 6 or 7
2v7: Devils > Lightning in 7... barely
3v6: Sabres > Senators, probably 5 or 6
4v5: Philly > Pittsburgh... who knows though

Semifinals 1: Devils > Hurricanes in 7... barely
Semifinals 2: Sabres > whoever

ECF: Devils > Sabres in like 5

Western conference playoffs:

1v8: Chicago > Phoenix in 4
2v7: Edmonton > San Jose in 6
3v6: Flames > Vancouver in 7
4v5: Detroit > LA in 7

Semifinals 1: Chicago > Edmonton in 4
Semifinals 2: Detroit > Calgary in 5

WCF: Chicago > Detroit in 6

Stanley cup: New Jersey Devils > Chicago Blackhawks in... 6

Jack Adams: Brent SUTTER
Lady Byng: Phil KESSEL

All-rookie team: does anyone actually give a ****?

lol Phil Kessel winning the rocket, Ovechkin winning Ross, and Stamkos winning Hart. That makes, like, zero sense.

Sure it does

Kessel 60G, 10A, 70P
Ovechkin 55G, 70A, 125P
Stamkos 50G, 60A, 110P but leads the Lightning and is just epic

shouldn't you worry about him putting up 40 goals before you talk about him scoring 60? Why am I even responding seriously to you?

You've been a hockey fan for how long? Since Ovechkin was drafted?

I was born and raised in the city of Toronto... the MECCA of hockey. I am hockey. My mind is hockey. My body is hockey. Everything about my life is hockey. Every breath I take is hockey. I know it more than you whether you like it or not. I could explain why Kessel will score 60 this year but it would be like a physics professor explaining time travel to a 2nd grade student, so I won't waste my time.

Enjoy your first round loss again.

Kessel scoring 60 goals this season is about as likely as me getting flushed down my toilet and popping out in a time where the Leafs were actually relevant.

I did up all my predictions, and then accidentally pressed the back button, and lost everything, so eff doing all that over again.

In the end, I had Pittsburgh beating Chicago for the Cup. Ottawa making the playoffs as the 8 seed, losing to Washington. Tampa Bay in, Toronto mos def out.
