As a UConn alum and season ticket holder, I'm fine with it.

Hmmm, underperforming big conference school with huge expectations fires coach who's been doing ok but not great and hires lightly regarded coach with middling record at small time program.

Look for Michigan to win a NC in a couple years just like Auburn.

Tommy Tuberville had a great run at Auburn.

RichRod was terrible and not okay at all at Michigan.

I don't think your post makes any sense.

It's happened all over the place. Ohio State with Tressel (and Cooper had a great run, besides Michigan). Bob Stoops 2nd year with Oklahoma. Saban at Alabama. Meyer at Florida. It's a common pattern.

Tubberville was years past his great run. 2008 was just a long painful attempt to demonstrate any offense at all. Recruiting had been pretty bad for three straight years, so he tried to bring in Franklin and the spread to add pizzaz. But also with 'his' guys having say-so and input. Complete cluster****. As bad as Michigan's defense was this year, Auburn's offense was much worse in 2008--and their "d" was nothing special either.

Tubs left them so thin that last three games of 2009, Auburn had zero backup linebackers. None. In no way was Chizik taking over a program on a great run.

I mean, seriously 2008 Auburn was probably the worst run, most uncoached, most poorly organized, malcontent-filled, terribly game-planned team I have ever seen try to compete in the SEC until this year's VANDERBILT!

bolded obv does not apply to tressel in the slightest. his youngstown state teams were a dynasty winning 4 titles in 7 years.

Pretty sick that is all it takes to be a successful hire.

Sure it does. He was the biggest fish in a small pond. Any I-AA job is by nature small-time.

Three- Major, Giles, and Chambers.

Dunno how I feel about Akina leaving. If the hire is anyone but Gray it's basically a disaster, but it also doesn't make any sense that it would be anyone but Gray given the timing (Seabags out of the playoffs today.) Also hoping we look to the NFL for the OL job, but I'm not sure who's available.

Bryant Young was hired to be UF's DT coach a few days ago. Guy was a helluva player, did his grad assistant work at ND.

I'm pretty happy with the staff Muschamp as put into place. UF's staff can be viewed here:
