yeah holm did not make use of her height/range at all.

That's probably the highest level striking matchup that can be made in women's MMA today, and Schevchenko just dominated it. With all the chaos at women's 135, feels like Ronda is gonna be able to pick her spot to come back and get a title shot whenever she feels the matchup is best.

Holly Holm should fire her manager immediately.

WTF are you doing taking this fight in your spot?

What fight should she take? Wait a year for maybe a Rousey rematch that isn't even a title fight or wait even longer for Rousey to regain the title and then fight her?

Tate/Rousey/Title and nothing else. You def do not risk these to fight on UFC on fox 4 months after you blew a fight you were winning until the 5th for your first ever loss.

Holly tried to grunt (pretty ****ing annoying) and feint her way to victory, got picked apart by Shevchenko all fight though.

Barboza great again but prelim card was a bore fest.

I kind of agree. Holm has made almost 1 million in cashes so she didn't HAVE to take this fight. She could have waited for Ronda. I tried to find payouts and all I found was that Holm made 2500 dollars for this fight lol

I think Holm, her manager, and her camp think l/thought that she is far and away the best fighter at 135. Even if she is it seems moronic to fight a nobody for peanuts and jeopardize the big fights.

She is also suffering from USADA era afaik. Would be shocked if she isn't on some of the same stuff as Jones, BJ, ect.

Holm can't wait a year or 2 to maybe fight Rousey, and Rousey isn't going to fight her unless it's for the Title. Holm might even have to wait a year or more to fight Tate assuming Tate could have defended her Title once or twice. Holm didn't even defend her Title once, she probably was going to have to wait a fight or two.

yeah, waiting isn't really an option for Holm. Not sure what people are talking about.

* Holm is old. She's 34 and will be 35 in a couple of months. She's already had a very long combat sports career and taken a lot of blows. She doesn't have a year to just piddle around doing nothing. She needs to make money now while she still can.

* She isn't in a position to call her own shots. She lost the title immediately. It's rare for a one-and-done champ to get an immediate title shot, and the odds are that she'd have to win a fight to get another shot no matter who the champ was. Only Ronda in that division gets the immediate title shot whenever she wants, because Ronda is a multiple-defense-champ and a massive draw.

dan ****ing Henderson just got a title shot because they think its a big seller I think that if ronda ever has the belt that holm will get her payday even if shes on a 0-4 streak. holm turning down a fight would have been saying goodbye to like 33% of her yearly salary I don't think it was a bad decision

She is the only women to ever beat Ronda.

not sure what point you're trying to make. I doubt Holly Holm is a draw just based on that - she lost her next fight.

And that doesn't impact at all that she's old and needs to get paid ASAP. She can't wait around for Ronda to come back or for a more favorable matchup.

It would matter if Ronda comes back and especially if she goes on another win streak. She will have at least one possible high draw rematch opportunity.

Doesn't the fact that she's old give her more incentive to wait for a fight that actually makes her money instead of doing the MMA equavalent of jamming 100bbs from MP in an unraised pot?

You're insane if you think that fight is nearly as hot of a commodity as it was 4 months or even 4 days ago.

No, it means she should take as many fights as possible while she is still a good fighter to maximize the number of payouts she can get. Poker analogy doesn't fit at all.

Even having lost, she's still a former champion and will have plenty of high-profile fights. Waiting for a year to make a perfect match up doesn't make sense when you only have two and a half or three years of fighting left.

Does it mean she should fight dangerous no name fighters for no money?

She got PPV points from UFC 196 which might be the best selling PPV of all time so she made a great decision.

The Tate fight was fine given her spot.

Agreeing to fight Shev on Fox after dominating the entire fight in her only loss is one of the worst management decisions of all time

...that'd be the Reebok money.

Not sure why the salaries are so secretive (the Illinois Athletic Commission doesn't release fighter pay info?) but MMA Manifesto have had a guess as to what they were.
