Edwards' defence was also good enough against Belal, who's an elite wrestler too.

yeah Usman has really fallen in love with his striking for a few years now, at age 35 is he just gonna be able to go back to his wrestling? he hasn't wrestled anyone since woodley and that was when everyone was doing whatever they wanted to woodley

obviously Usman could just rock Edwards, as Edwards does seem to have a few moments in every fight where he gets drilled. Even vs Nate in rd 5, he was hanging on for dear life. Man that was pathetic.

I don't know what makes you think he hasn't used his wrestling. Usman took down Masvidal 2 times in just over 1 round of fight time. The previous time he fought Masvidal, Usman took him down 5 times. That's 2 of his previous 4 fights where he used a lot of wrestling.

yeah I guess vs Masvidal he did, but that is gonna be an obvious gameplan vs Masvidal, who has really never shown much ability to stop high level wrestling/grappling at 170. Especially as fights go on.

I still think at 35 y/o with a lot of wear and tear on his knees that taking down Edwards could be harder than people think.

line is closer than I anticipated

fig'd Usman would be closer to or north of -425, I don't really have an opinion on fair line

Very happy for Leon. Well deserved victory. Brits still can't wrestle though. Hope he tunes up that double leg defense for the immediate rematch.

the Rogan/DC commentary was great, in their defense it did seem over but they're like "din thomas believes he's just happy to lose by decision and it looks like it" then BOOM

too many wrestlers in this division, he'll lose the belt fast but hell of a moment

would think they do the trilogy but WW just got very interesting

Feels a bit like Hagler laying in the middle of the ring totally out of it. That's who Usman has reminded me of, if not quite as busy, seemingly as stout. But he's getting old ... and lots of miles on him. Looked like it was perfectly set up the whole fight with dozens of low kicks and fake kicks. Then the swing for the fences moment that actually worked. Left jab cover, totally unexpected and perfectly timed. About a minute before Usman took a minute from an alleged groin kick, but it wasn't low, though it was one of those kind that might jam your cup up into you. After that, mentally he didn't seem sharp. They came right back together he was oddly hands down standing casually inches from Edwards, almost like the pre-fight thing, a clear violation of "protect yourself at all times." Looked weird. Anyway, for whatever reason, there comes moments when you aren't there mentally. Ask Tyson, ask Ernie Els, ask anybody. In combat sport there also often comes a moment when you just get caught too big to take.

I wonder if there is any conventional wisdom about how much more powerful a haymaker kick can be as opposed to a haymaker punch? Edwards thought he was going to win for real. That is he considered the guy the GOAT and still thought he had what it took. It's no fluke.

Chimaev missed by 7.5 pounds? lol

Seems decent for Edwards if it hurts Chimaev with Dana

Can possibly fight Colby/Mas bigger name types that he'll have a better chance vs

So they are trying to shuffle the card and have it

Nate vs Tony Ferguson as the main event now

And

Khamzhat vs Holland as the co main

What a **** show

Nate vs Ferguson will be a fun one. I hope Holland got like double his pay to take that Chimaev fight last minute as it's a terrible matchup for him especially when he was preparing for a striker.

Nate is the big winner in all this. The previous main event probably would have been an absolute beating.

If you’re 7.5 lbs off shouldn’t you know you’re never going to make it like 2-3 days before the weigh in?

why would Holland agree to that? money? He's gonna get smashed, that's a horrible matchup

Does Nate really suck that much to be a dog to Tony? Tony is dusted.

If chimaez such a bad mf, why doesn’t he just move up and face adesanya?
Nothing to be proud about him today ….

I wonder if Dana forces Khamzat to move up to 185? It's a big miss and he had no issues going into camp, it sounds like the commission just told him to stop because he looked bad.

Oliveira and Dern come to mind as more recent examples. I remember Gina Carano used to come way over as well, I'm sure there are others.

UFC is worth like 10B now so I don't believe in conspiracy theories but no one cared about this card and now it has a little buzz, just sayin
