The Chandler fight was awesome.

Some amazing fights to look out too as well in the next few months. Stipe Vs Ngannou LFG

This shouldn't be such a shock. Conor's been so inactive and his game depends on timing and focus, both things that depreciate when inactive. Looks like he packed on some muscle as well, which may not have been a great idea for someone who gasses after the second round.

I’ll have to rewatch the fight. Conor looked like Conor at the start of the fight if you ask me. He was landing clean and even had Dustin stunned in the first. None of his shots put him away though. I guess Conor was getting countered early on in the fight. Usually he doesn’t get touched that early. Is anyone tired of the new kick one dimensional “boxer” style fighter’s leg until it’s dead. We’ve seen it with Cejudo, Volk, and Poitier to name a few. I’m just waiting on seeing who will employ it on Israel. Soon I will have no hero’s left in the game. It’s pretty OP, especially when you don’t have to be worried about the takedown. Just don’t get clipped doing it and you’re good..

Fighters will just have to adapt. A stance that puts the leg far out from the body may be too vulnerable now. The MMA metagame keeps changing; that's part of what makes it such a fascinating sport.

For the sports betters itt. Next week is a Glory kickboxing event. Main event should've been Verhoeven - Ben Saddik (clearly the best 2 heavyweight fighters in the organization).

But Saddik pulled out last week. Now they organized a 4-way tournament. Verhoeven opens against Gerges, who lost 7 of his last 9 fights lol. Verhoeven has already beat him twice back in 2012 when he wasn't even the level he is today.

Line is @1,18. Ain't much, but free money is free money

A good fight for Mcgregor is either the Nate trilogy or even Ferguson. If Mcgregor loses to either it means he doesn't have it anymore because Nate nor Ferguson will never touch the belt, you can't lose to Journey men.

At +250, Poirier felt like free money, but I couldn't pull the trigger.

Conor/Nate 3

Dustin gets the belt

Conor/Dustin 3 in Dec

Easiest booking ever if the fighters do what they need to.

Dustin doesn't need the belt though to do Conor/Dustin 3.

Dustin needs to do something, and the belt needs to move. I guess you could do Olivera/Gaethje or something, but why bother?

The only other thing you could do is swap Conor/Nate 3 for Conor/Tony, but in either case, get Dustin the belt then the trilogy is that much better.

Yesterday's PPV was a top 3 UFC PPV of all time. Belt not necessary.

Yeah, Conor's PPV's tend to do well, especially when he's coming off a layoff, but running it back against a guy that just beat the **** out of him will likely do a little less well with nothing in between. No reason to waste Dustin's momentum when you can feed any number of other people to Conor and still do fine, all while rebuilding Conor for a rematch.

We're in agreement on that. Dustin will get the next title shot and the Nate trilogy fight makes a lot of sense for Conor.

Chandler makes a lot of sense for Khabib, if he does come back.

For Khabib, not for the UFC. I could see him finding the appeal in former Bellator champ and only name at 155 he hasn't vanquished. Chandler was super smart to be so reverential in addressing him too, that plays well to Khabib.

Citation?

Like 25% of my casual fan friends that normally ask me about fights asked me about this 1. I think it was because Poirier was just kindof a random opponent. No belt on the line, no grudge match, no trash talk.

McGregor's new "Daddest man on the planet" shtick just doesn't work well for him at all. It completely kills his polarization. I watched the fight but I did not have that same feel that I've had about his previous fights, that "it" factor if you will.

Him/Nate will sell for sure but both of them off losses, I doubt it does nearly as well as it would've.

I know he says he's gonna keep fighting but guy is so rich, I tend to doubt it.

As a very casual UFC fan, who knows jack about martial arts, this exact thought struck me while watching the broadcast.

I noticed the leg kicking in a few of fights, and how lethal it was when executed well. Not really seen it done too much before, or with so much intensity.
Also noted the commentators saying several times certain takedowns/grapples/submissions (don't recall which) were rarely used anymore as everyone has got so good at defending them.

As you say, fascinating watching it evolve, and, as it's a new sport, how fast it changes.

Also only a casual fan and honestly still only pick up a few of the big ppv's over the years as I'm more attracted other sports but you have to respect the growth and maturity of the sport and even more so Dana White for seeing it's potential.

Conor v. Ferguson does sound great. For two guys on the way down it seems immensely attractive. Headliner Bones v. Ngannou with Conor v. Tony on the undercard. I would pay for it gladly, and I am not usually a buyer.
