I've watched pretty much every UFC since Rampage/Hendo a decade ago.

I've never seen anyone stiffen up quite like that. He fell over so damn fast and it was like he got Medusa'd.

Jon Jones’s offensive boxing has got worse. He barely threw a punch against Santos. How do you not jab when you have an 8 inch reach advantage? Maybe that’s partly why it wasn’t a wholly convincing victory. Anyone who didn’t know better wouldn’t believe it if you told him that Jones is the GOAT on the basis of that fight.

He was fighting an ultra conservative game plan because he was worried about Thiago's power and speed to throw that power. He mentioned that some fans may have wanted him to throw more jabs and crosses but he is happy with his performance from that perspective.

The most surprising thing to me is that he specifically talked about wanting to fight against fighters where they are strongest and he left with his pride intact because he never shot a takedown vs Thiago. This is a terrible mindset to have and is pretty much the opposite of how one should approach a fight. It's surprising to me that a coaching staff would allow a fighter to think like that.

If Thiago didn't get hurt he probably wins that fight because of Jones' terrible gameplan. If Jones ever faces Johnny Walker and decides to just kickbox with him then I don't see how one can't make Johnny Walker a favorite. I think that is pretty clear even without seeing Walker vs a top ranked guy. Wrestling is one of Jones' greatest strengths and if he's not going to use it then we'll probably see more of what we saw last night.

Jones did say he would go for some takedowns if he fought Thiago again which is strange because he really wanted to beat him in a kickboxing match last night...it's as if he wanted to make a statement and now that he has made that statement he's willing to exploit Thiago's weaknesses in a rematch.

BTW, Winklejohn and Jackson were confident that Jones won all 5 rounds and were telling Jones as much. This is just further evidence that this once great fight team is atrocious now.

I imagine he could retire but seems unlikely unless his docs or his wife etc advises him to. He's pulling in massive #s for the UFC and all it would take is a win or two and he's likely lined up to fight for the title.

Loser of Lawler/Colby or Till seem to make most sense.

Not sure that entirely makes sense. A jab keeps the opponent at bay, and is particularly effective for the guy with the reach advantage. Those spinning attacks were repeatedly putting Jones in harm's way; he had to move pretty quickly after them to avoid getting his head knocked off.

He uses teep kicks like a jab. He's never been THAT fluid with his hands, he's never been GSP pumping a jab, so don't know where this "his boxing has faded" is coming from.

JBJ was just pulsing his grappling, obviously.

Is it normal to plan out every single strike you're going to throw in a fight like that?

I think Jones has been drinking a bit too much Winklejohn Kool-Aid and now fancies himself a world class kickboxer (reminiscent of Ronda Rousey when she thought she was a world class boxer). I really really really want to see Jon Jones try to stand with Johnny Walker now.

Also, after seeing last night's fight I realize why Jones doesn't want to move to HW. If you are scared to put a combination together vs Thiago Santos wtf are you going to do on your feet when facing heavy hitters in the HW division like:

Stipe
Ngannou
JDS
Lewis
Overeem
Cain
Tuivasa
Hunt
Arlovski
Greg Hardy

Im sure most training camps they prepare to exploit holes in opponents games but probably rarely get a perfect outcome like this.

I just think its cool because it almost looks exactly like what happened right down to the casual couple of steps to his right before taking off in the sprint.

No but planning an opening move if you get the right look is somewhat normal.

He's taking it so well tho, that makes people a fan. Conor took his loss to Nate pretty well but Ben is totally owning this.

What choice does he have, right? Look at Ronda. Stipe didn't take his well. Chael took his losses great too. Chael lost a hell of a lot more than Askren has tho.

Thiago Santos fought most of his light heavyweight title bout with Jon Jones on essentially one leg.

Santos tore the ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus of his left knee in the UFC 239 main event Saturday night in Las Vegas, his manager Alex Davis confirmed with ESPN. Tests came back with that information Monday, Davis said.

Ouch
