i'm from brazil and only last year UFC started having big airtime thanks to the biggest tv channel in our country, globo. they jumped on the bandwagon after silva's enormous success and are looking for ex-mma fighters to do commentary. I'm 100% sure shogun would get a job and earn lots of money easily. ATM they use Cigano for commentaries.

Some awesome looking fights coming up.

Cerrone/Pettis (could be fight of the year), Edgar/Aldo (should be a 5 round war), Bigfoot/Reem, Henderson/Machida.

hmmm, no.
I actually live in the town where Rony Jason grew up and used to go out with a girl who "knew" him. it was def. a big deal here because of him, but around the country it was pretty forgettable.
the real UFC fights, OTOH, broke ratings and beat even the brazilian soccer championship, the highest rated event every year.. mostly because of silva. that's why they decided to make a TUF Brazil in first place.

Hah, like I said, it's the city he grew up in, not the one he was born. He moved when he was little, I think. I live a good 200km away from the city in the pic... But thanks.. I guess?

Id love to see Bisping come away with the W. I think hes been pretty underrated last few fights.

Not very often I holler "STOP IT! STOP IT!" during an MMA bout but... My God, what was Dan Miragliotta looking at while Khabib was dropping a dozen plus elbows into Thiago's grill? DM was inches away just looking ffs? He'd tap on the second similar elbow to his dome, but allows an unnecessary beatdown like that to continue on?

I have said for years that Miragliotta will be the ref when the UFC has their first in ring death. I hate that guy.

poor old Bisping. So near and yet so far.

got to admire his resolution though

Bisping has lost to every A flight fighter he has faced. He has no business fighting Anderson.

And Chael Sonnen has facing Bones?
Brock Lesnar deserved his shot after one victory in the UFC? (over a journeyman like Heath Herring at that)

Let's face it, this is the UFC - money talks.

If Bisping wasn't from the North of England he would have gotten a shot ages ago.

But British people get the UFC free so there's no pay-per-view with him.
Plus I'm sure most Americans can barely understand a word he says with that accent of his.

I'd say Brock was pretty deserving yes.

And Chael is the exception to the rule, not the rule.

No. Bisping being from England was the only reason he was up for a title shot despite never having defeated a top 10 ranked fighter.

Bisping is an elite gatekeeper, not a championship contender.

+1, Im excited for Aldo vs Edgar. Should be a good fight and Edgar will be at what should be his proper weight.

wat?

He had 2 fights in the UFC before his shot and he lost 1. He only beat Heath Herring ffs who probably threw the fight - it was also his last pro fight. Retire into the sunset with a huge payoff maybe?

and then he won and defended his title twice making him worthy

At the time Brock fighting for the title was purely a PPV cash-grab. No real way to deny that.

Afterwards, the UFC was pretty fortunate that Brock was a legitimate MMA fighter who ended up winning three HW title fights and proving himself. But at the time, a cash grab.

it's also undeniable that brock's ppv draw is significantly larger than bisping's will ever be. so it made a lot more sense to them to do that.

then again, bisping has a better chance to beat anderson than stephan bonnar.

Last couple of TUF seasons have been a bit disappointing. It would be great to see at least a couple of fighters come out of this season's show and make an impact in the division.
