I'll be shocked if Chael doesn't withdraw after that vicious shoulder blast.

Chael is lucky to still be walking. Regardless of the outcome of the fight, he's a true champion.

After the weigh in when they were doing the staredown silva was right in Chaels face and lifted/swung his right shoulder and hit Chael in the face. Sonnen didnt react and it didnt look like there was any kind of serious/hard contact. Kinda douchey move from anderson but kinda in line with everythin that has happened in the build up for the fight.

Nothing really crazy happened. Chael stood there in a fighters pose (not confrontational, just as a picture pose/not moving) and Silva bumped him a couple times. The last time being an attempt to swing his shoulder, which connected, into Chael's chin. He didn't react.

You didn't really miss much

thanks guys! just got home and watched the video. as a brazilian, I really don't get why they let anderson speak english. his manager is already translating from english to portuguese, he should transpate portuguese-english, too. I watched some old footage from anderson and he didn't even try speaking english, he should've kept it that way. I mean, my english isn't perfect, but it's cringeworthy listening to him.

His English is fine, he just isn't as professional as JDS, big nog, or even werdum who bother to put effort.

I've only been a Chael fan recently the past couple of years. Anderson was the nuts until he went through the 'dance and score points' phase a couple of years ago. Even Dana took him aside after a particularly boring fight and told him this wasn't the way a Champion, a "UFC" Champion kept his belt.

Condit went the same route with Diaz. And Guida ran and danced, threw a ton of whiffs, against Maynard. Dana smirked at the Condit fight, was outspoken against Guida and his coaches along with the majority of twitterverse and mma forums.

I enjoy Chael as he seems to have kept the fighters spirit, aka amateur wrestling mentality, and wants to actually F-I-G-H-T. If I want to watch two guys dance and score light jabs to the chin and body, I'd go back to 10 round boxing.

Jon Jones seems to be an initiator too. Watching men put it on the line goes back thousands of years and I enjoy the competition of it. Otherwise it would be Dancing with the Stars instead of $50-$60 PPV's.

Silva has a skill edge, but Sonnen has heart, determination and bravado along with some wrestling skills and striking. Tough call but I have to go with Sonnen, or at least I'm pulling hard for him to give Silva another beat down. And I like my steaks blue rare.

Today at 10 a.m. local time, Chael Sonnen weighed 190 pounds. Yesterday, he was 15 pounds heavier, and 20 pounds from the on-the-dot 185 he needs to be to fight champ Anderson Silva at UFC 148.

SILVA WILL KILL THIS MOFO!!! Sonnen went too far, and he will pay the price for it. Funny how scared Sonnen looks every time he is standing in front of Silva, cause even he has now realized what a big mistake he`s made. Silva will make him his bitch, and Sonnen will go for the takedown as soon as the fight starts, because thats his only option to come out of the fight without the need to get a new passport for his face will be unrecognizable after this! He`ll probably let Silva submit him in the first round and say he made a mistake on the ground afterwards, cause even he knows that it`s no fun when your face looks like this for the rest of your life.

Man this looks just like the comments made right before UFC 117. "ahh Sonnen is scared", "omg Silva is going to smash him for saying all those things", "Chael can't stand with him"

What really happened

-Chael proved to be a gangster
-Silva got one good strike in
-Chael owned him on the feet

-chael got subbed
-this means he actually lost the fight

Not gonna happen this time, Silva hopefully got a couple of good fights left in him. He`s old tho, but rage will send him to unknown heights this time!

That's a huge weight cut and should make Sonnen fans nervous. His wrestling is not really in question, and extra size/strength shouldn't really be a factor. Cardio is a bigger issue with a massive weight cut, and he looked drained as hell at the weigh ins.

A fresh 200 pound Sonnen with great cardio has a much better chance against Silva than a 218 pound Sonnen with potential cardio issues from cutting 30+ pounds.

I think Silva is probably a little better at the cutting game than Sonnen

All Sonnen had at the weigh-in was a bottle of water, but Silva was ready right there with something thick and yellow, probably sugar water and electrolytes to get his body out of ketosis immediately, and who knows what else

Coming in a pound under shows he timed his cut better, too. Chael's perfect 185 probably means he killed himself getting there

Meh, lot of seasoned pros come in at the exact weight or a pound under. Not a big deal either way.

I would make more of Chael looking exhausted, and chugging that water more than the 185 thing.
