On the NL side…. I really don’t want Bryce Harper to win a ring. Lots of bad or worse rooting options for me at this point
it's bad but it's not that bad!

And I don't even get mad at Boone for lineups-it's 2022 those come from the front office with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions.

His handling of the bullpen is a joke and obviously his communication is terrible. The players also clearly don't respect him and I was hoping Cole was gonna curse him out yesterday.

The Phillies are a great example of how random these playoffs are. This wasn't some well designed world series team, They got hot at the right time.Yea Harper got hurt but even with him they would have been a third place team. Last year they wouldn't even be in the playoffs and before the extra wild card SD wouldn't be either.

It's kind of funny the Al has the top 2 teams and the NL has the bottom 2 teams. Playoffs are a total crapshoot.

I actually don't want them to give Judge some stupid 9 or 10 year deal that he's gonna get from someone.
I just haven't seen any super long term deals for someone his age work out well for a position player. I've seen a couple for pitchers.

But I'd also like to see them doing dumb **** in general. Donaldson has been worse than expected but they essentially paid 56 million for 2 years to have IKF be their shortstop while putting Donaldson in Ursela's spot. (Urshela's salary basically washed with Sanchez who they never should have resigned) The Correa deal with the opt out he took would have made a million times for sense than all that money for a stop gap. Giving a reliver with a rifle for an arm and a ten cent head a 5 year deal was also pretty funny.

The fact they've started 3 shortstops in 3 games of the LCS without injury shows you they don't know what the hell they're doing.

I think we agree more than we disagree. Boone is such a buffoon for so many reasons. But **** like guys not running out fly balls bc they think they're home runs/outs is especially infuriating. Like I get a grounder to short dogging it to first. But Donaldson for example literally pimped a home run for a single and looked like a complete ******* in the regular season, then did the SAME **** in the playoffs. Like guys don't learn lessons. Their manager is a dunce. Fundamentally they are awful in the field. We all know Boone will be back though.

Do you want to re-sign Judge and how many years are you willing to give him?

Donaldson did it multiple times this year but Boone is gutless.
It was bad enough watching Cano loaf out of the box but at least he was a great hitter- Donaldson does this **** on balls at that best will land in the first row of that Fischer Price stadium while hitting like **** all year.

Depends what he wants. But he turned down 7 years for a ton of money then had this year some i'm sure he can get someone to give him 9-10 which I'd stay away from.

Phils getting fresh Nola and Wheeler for 4 starts against Astros could make it less of a lock. Stretch this **** out Pads, before you lose.

What a pathetic ALCS showing by the Yankees. .128BA and 41K's in 3 games. Holy hell that's atrocious.

Saw a stat that the Yanks currently have the lowest BA of any playoff team in history after 8 games.

Historically bad performance. Lucky to have beaten the Guardians with this offense.

And it's not the least bit surprising or unexpected. We knew what this team was. It's the same thing every postseason.

eh I don't think it matters either way. It happened to be against the Yankees but none of those players are still on the team.

Houston actually also came back down 3-0 in the 2020 alcs but lost lost game 7.

Getting them over so that your #9 hitter can get them in. .263 of the time, it works every time

Nola is very fresh and Wheeler threw less than 90 pitches both starts.... and Ranger. He threw 2 pitches tonight.

Alvarado and Seranthony were overused, though.

This was nothing compared to game 5 of the 2008 WS where Hamels was cruising and they kept the game going through a complete downpour.

This is correct. It was light-ish rain and was supposed to taper off. It was forecast for light rain pretty much all game.

Haha I remember that
Didn't they finish it the next day?

Yes. Pretty sure they wanted to make in an official game, but it potentially robbed Hamels of another win (he won MVP anyway).

I'm going to disagree with this a bit. This is exactly how the Phillies were built.

Harper, JT, Schwarber, Hoskins, and Castellanos is exactly how the team expected this to play out (except for Castellanos swinging at every... single... pitch).

Add Wheeler to Nola and Ranger and it is kind of built of the playoffs. Their bullpen decisions haven't played out as they would have liked, but they did address those as well.

Yes, they obviously got hot at the right time, but this is a team that floundered with Girardi, made a coaching change, and then played well in the 2nd half through a slump, a new coach, and injuries to Harper and Wheeler.

They are playing well above expectation, but it's not exactly a team just getting hot. They have plenty of talent.

Considering the arms in the upper minors and this team could be decent for a few years.
