I bet this list would have been different last year.

Hart 5? Thinking about it I guess I agree. He's the only guy doing anything for the Brew-crew recently. I hope Milwaukee does not trade him.
Well, I made that list with the notion all 3 will be dealt by next year's trade deadline, if not sooner. If Fielder were for sure staying you could argue he's #1. The main reason for Fielder listed at 3 tho, is whoever we bring back for him damn well better be the player with the 3rd brightest future. Otherwise you can mark that deal as an utter failure.

I think Hart goes ahead of Weeks for 2 reasons. A) he's more likely to stay with the Brew Crew than Weeks. Weeks is for sure being dealt its just a matter of now or later? B) Hart is more likely to be dealt by this year's trade deadline, which makes me think the player we get back in return will impact the majors sooner than the player acquired for Weeks. Also even tho Weeks is having a bounce back type of year his injury history is hard to forget.

i'd put fielder over gallardo. gallardo is sick and all but he's got a significant injury history.

+1

I am a fielder fan. I liked his dad too.

That said Fielder isn't consistant enough to be a real star.

hehe, honestly I didn't check the factors listed just went after the pattern of every1 else's list. But gehrig quoted these factors:

factors considered: salary, service time, expected future performance and potential for compensation draft picks

There's no doubt both Braun and Yo have much friendlier contracts than the deal Prince has currently and the one Boras will see to it he gets. Also when you look at future performance, besides the obvious of that future performance coming for another team, I think you have to be terrified at the rate Prince's body will break down. In all likelihood far more rapidly than Yovani's. Plus Yo had 185 IP last yr and was up to 111 IP for this year already before the oblique strain. Is there another injury in there I'm missing? Sounds pretty durable and no major injury concerns moving forward.

Edit: eh got tricked into thinking he was a Sept call up in '08 with 4 starts, but it looks like he missed that season with an injury. Still I'd worry about Prince breaking down next b4 Yovani.

pitchers are far more likely to get injured than position players. the fat 1b is likely to be more durable than the sp with an injury history.

I am proud of you. No silly sabre stat needed here. You are making logical assumptions beyond numbers.

I always knew you were one of the brightest around here.

Fielder will probably be able to extend his career in the AL with the bastard baseball they play using the DH.

I ruptured a disc in my back 2 years ago and I can't play sports anymore without doing future damage to my back. Some days I'd rather just watch a movie than a sporting event and some days I can't wait for Baseball Tonight or Quick Pitch to come on. I'm thinking that back and forth plays a part in this.

The other aspect is, once I got into sabremetrics last summer I really started looking closer at the Rangers. I don't think anyone has ever accused the Rangers of being a well run organization. To me Justin Smoak optimizes the right direction for this franchise. He works the count, he hits for average (eventually), he has power, and he has tremendous talent. You let that walk out the door, for what Vegas says is a 1 in 8 shot at the WS this year. Its just one of those deal breakers where you say to yourself this franchise will never learn.

I was born in Hartford, WI and always rooted for the Brewers as my second favorite team. So once I said F this bologna from the Rangers. The Brewers were the logical choice to adopt as my new team. I picked that over just saying F baseball all together.

IMO, as a Twins fan, I would much prefer my team to put it all on the line and take 1 big shot at a pennant/WS championship versus being just good enough to win a weak division 3 out of every 4 years and lose to the Yankees in the first round.

Yeah, you gave up some future value, but this year is an amazing time to be a Rangers fan, enjoy it and worry about the future later!

Plus, you still have oodles of young talent so its not like this is your only chance to win something.

You struggled from 1995-2008 watching the Yankees ruin baseball.......well this is your chance for revenge! You stole Cliff Lee from right under the Yankees' nose! You got Brian Cashman to whine in public about unfair play! It doesn't get any better than that, baby!

yeah this sounds great and all until your favorite team unloads its farm to take a shot, doesn't win the series and then sucks ass for the foreseeable future.

i'm sure a bunch of twins fans like to say "i'd trade all this regular season success for a series win!" but would they want to trade all the regular season success for 1 year of getting bounced in the alcs and then 4 years of losing? people love to ignore the fact that the best team in baseball is a significant dog to win the series.
