just curious why for your gameID do you use your own custom #s instead of the ones MLB.com uses? is there an advantage to it?

for all my mlb db (stats, pbp, pitch fx, sportsbook lines, etc) i just find it easier to tie into mlb ID and that way if something is missing or gone wrong for some reason it's easy to find

Hrm? GameID is straight out of MLBAM's PITCHf/x database. I don't do a custom one at all.

oh it says

gameid*

6
80
182

so like instead of 6 for that game I have 233765 which is MLB.com ID of the game and appears in every XML file that has stats related to that game

i guess it doesn't matter too much though cause then you would need to store gid_2008_03_31_kcamlb_detmlb_1 anyway i just do it to make sure i'm getting the right data

so for each game i store 233765, gid_2008_03_31_kcamlb_detmlb_1, and some other random info

I store the game's day in there as well, so that's a unique identifier when linked with the gameid.

I'm trying to get an internship with the Brewers for a salary arbitration position. They want a writing sample (up to 3) of a player who is eligible for arbitration this offseason. Any good sources for me to use either on the arbitration process or players eligible this offseason? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once a friend had me write a sick baseball arbitration case for something. He crushed. PM me your email address. It's a little outdated since I wrote it 2-3 years ago and it uses older metrics, but it will give you a good starting point.
