Even better is the ball "boy" is apparently the son of Swansea's biggest shareholder Martin Morgan.

What punishment did Cabaye get for pushing the ballboy at Everton?

What did Ferdinand get for kicking that steward?

I think Cabaye got 1 game. Hazard got a straight red card though so I imagine it will be 3 games. Seems fair

I mean Hazard pushed the kid to the ground...now with that said it looked like the kid went down at first contact...prob embellished the kick a little too, but Hazards is Ghana get a deserved banning...

I guess you can't lie to the ref, it seemed like he asked him if "(he) kicked the boy" then hazard said "but he was holding the ball" and the ref pulled out the red-card

In an ideal world Hazard would get a medal rather than a red card imo. But in this world he obviously has to be sent off.

I don't think timewasting happens every week to the extent we saw there, but if I were the FA I would issue a directive to referees instructing them to add 30 seconds onto the end of the game every time they see deliberate timewasting by ballboys. Would get rid of the problem overnight. No chance of happening given how limp wristed the FA are though. Same as post-match bans for diving.

How bout no. No need to proceed from the first line really. There is a reasonable way of dealing with this and it's not kicking him. Should you also get a medal for rushing up and kicking the GK when he wastes time on a goal kick?

I'm not sorry that the ballboy copped a kick in the chest (if that is what happened). This is a guy who announced his attention to cheat for his team on Twitter before the game and then went ahead and started cheating. I don't really care that he's only 17 and a half (it would obv be different if he was like 12), as far as I'm concerned from a pure karma viewpoint he got what he deserved.

By an "ideal world" I mean one where everyone has good judgement and we don't need to worry about people making bad decisions, the effect it has when role models use force to deal with things, etc etc. In the real world for a whole host of reasons it can't be OK for players to just boot people in the chest. There have to be clear lines and Hazard obviously crossed the line, that doesn't mean the kid didn't deserve it though. In other words I think Hazard should be punished for breaking the rules but I don't think he did anything morally wrong.

GK wasting time is totally different as there are procedures in place to punish him for doing that (yellow card if he does it too much).

wtf Hazard really does nothing wrong there. Ballboy turns the back on Hazard clinging to the ball and when he tries to grab it ballboy does a grade A Suarez. After that he lies on the ball, Hazard toepokes the ball out from underneath the ballboy. There probably was contact between shin and ballboy but he wears thick clothing and there was no pendulum at all from Hazard so i bet the kid barely felt it but since he has watched alot of telly he knows exactly how to roll around.

That is how you kick someone lying down if you wanna put some hurt in them.

No ones saying Hazard tried to kill the kid. Kids dumb, but the sin of wasting 5 seconds of a football match isn't much, no?

kid was being a brat and being nearly 18 is a joke - i thought that job was reserved for 10-14 yr olds?

That said, 100% unacceptable to kick out at him, regardless of how he's smothering the ball. It's up to the ref to add the wasted time, not the player to go vigilante and separate him from the ball. A suspension is in order.

Why not make ballboys neutral and have teens who are taking ref training get those jobs?

The thing is that he isnt kicking out AT him. Hes kicking the ball underneath him and gets a little contact with the kid. Anyone that has had any physcial contact in sports knows that a kick like that doesnt hurt especially if you are wearing the padding the kid is so hes just making a meal out of it to get attention.

As I said technically it is assault. Anyway as he didn't press charges police did indeed drop the investigation.

It doesn't matter. You can't kick out like that anywhere in the vicinity of a minor who isn't on the pitch playing the game, end of story. Clear laws, clear lines you can't cross.

I'd like to buy Hazard a beer for doing it, though.

lol at anyone trying to defend hazard here. never imagined I'd see the day.

i'd also have slightly more sympathy (or maybe not) if it was chelsea's ball in that spot. but it's a swansea goal kick so a completely standard amount of time would have been wasted just as it would in any other game and just as chelsea would do in a reverse position. it's not like the kid is preventing him from taking a quick fk or corner. i actually think in that spot a lot of times the gk tells the ball kid not to get it so he can walk over and collect it so more time is wasted.

and lol at "he wasn't kicking AT him". if you aren't intelligent enough to realize that the ball is under him and you have to hit him to get it you shouldn't be on a football pitch at all. i thought it was serious until i got to the part about how the kid was wearing thick clothing so it probably didn't hurt much. at that point it had to be a level.
