Yup do realise that.

Pretty frustrating all round. Game should have been won in the first game without the need for a replay.

Go Wigan!

United seem to have got into a habit where they think creating 3 chances a game is enough.

It might work against the Sunderland's of this world ...

Chelsea fans going to be furious when Rafa leads them to two trophies.

That was Juan Mata's 50th assist for Chelsea, also scored 30 goals for the club. He's played 105 games for them. #CFC

That's very impressive.

Your 34 matches in charge have landed you firmly in 2nd spot on the worst Chelsea manager of the last 15 years chart. Outside of Andre Villas-Boas, we have to go back to Ruud Gullit to find somebody with a worse record than you. And neither of those two men had the luxury of the Juan Mata - Eden Hazard combo.

You took over with Chelsea in 3rd, four points behind Manchester United. Today, Chelsea is 4th, 22 points behind Manchester United. That's 18 points lost in 18 matches. At least you're keeping the math simple.

You took over with Chelsea in 3rd, seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur. Today, Chelsea is 4th, 2 points behind Tottenham Hotspur. That's 9 points lost in 18 matches. At least you're keeping the math simple.

You have gained 31 points from 18 matches, an average of 1.72 points/game or barely good enough for 6th place in the Premiership.

You lost four matches to teams currently in the bottom half of the table. You have to go back a decade - to a time when Jody Morris and Enrique de Lucas both got 30+ appearances - to find similar tragedies and your season isn't even over yet! To add insult to injury, one of those four losses was to a local "rival," a team in last place, at Stamford Bridge.

You lost seven points from winnings positions (Southampton (H), Reading (A), Newcastle (A)), seven points that coincidentally would've been good enough for second place in the table.

You destroyed any notion of sensible and reasonable squad rotation.
You labor under the delusion that the Europa League carries any sort of priority or significance to the vast majority of fans.

You managed to lose the Club World Cup to a team, which finished 20 points off the pace in Brazil.

You managed to lose the League Cup to a team, which is currently 15 points off the pace of Chelsea.

You needed two replays to make it past three rounds of FA Cup action, the magnificence of the Manchester United comeback not quite making us forget about the abhorrence of Brentford.

So don't talk to me about great seasons and very good positions. Clawing at the final Champions League spot is not a great season. Hilarious and high profile failings in latter stages of cups is not a great season. Running players into the ground while marooning squad depth on the bench is not a great season. Disillusioning fans more and more is not a great season.

Fans haven't exactly helped his cause either tbh

Mean he's a decent manger. Who else could he gave got in? Sacking CA was pretty funny as well.

So will sacking Rafa after he gets you into the champions league. Europe league is a good chance as well. Doubt you beat city in the semi.

The Tiananmen square protests didn't last this long (military involvement being the key though).

Rafa isn't staying past the summer and there is a reasonable chance that Mourinho returns. Add in some good to very good recent performances and most of the supporters have managed to keep quiet the last few weeks. I suggest that some supporters save their energy for when times are really tough. It's quite amusing and childish that some people still feel hurt by the decision. The team won the Champions League last season and Mourinho might be coming back. You'd be lucky enough for your club to get Mourinho once. Chelsea might be getting him for a second time.

--------------------

There is no doubt that the team has underperformed overall but there have been some really good performances that have been overlooked in the madness of the season. 31 points in 18 isn't good enough and many wasted opportunities in there. But below par league form has been a problem for three seasons now. The team managed 1.87 ppg in 10/11 and and 1.68 ppg in 11/12. I would have expected us pushing for 80 points this year.

Fist pump for the fact that we have played well in some games. We should be with our highly gifted front band.

......perspective.....how does it work?

FWIW I think its hard to defend his rotation, I think he is unprepared for how the EPL has become moah competitive. However if we cant get a definite upgrade I see no point in sacking him in the summer, but we almost definitely will.

Well that's the point. Had we finished 6th last year and lost the CL final, would that have justified removing AVB for RDM? Hard to say. But a match decided by luck and fine margins made it an overwhelming yes for most.

Hardly fist pumping and we should expect a much better performance in the league and CL with this squad. I can't defend Rafa's obsession with rotation in the league either when a defeat or dropped points puts us in a tighter situation for 3rd/4th. But it is what it is. It could be much worse.

One potential wrong, and an actual wrong dont make a right, so not sure what your point is?

Also its about comparing effect on outcomes, obviously variance is massive in the CL run, but I dont think hiring RDM had much negative effect on the expectation, unlike firing him.

Do you agree with Rafa that we have had a good season?

No, nor am I looking for a debate or argument. Just a few thoughts on the situation. It's a strange comment but at this stage, and to be fair rightly so, he is looking out for himself. He has no future at the club and it's been made pretty clear.

That was made pretty clear when he was only hired as interim manager.
