Fourth and 2 at own 36, eight minutes to go, down six to a team that the defense has had problems stopping, while the offense has been averaging eight yards per play. Punt, of course.

No. The defense was awful all day and couldn't get off the field enough, and was dead tired from the heat.

not even worth mentioning on a day with john fox and andy reid timeout usage

john foxs actions stated "i would rather just go to overtime than give peyton a minute to get into FG range to win". was watching on red zone and my thoughts were "hmm wonder how much time is going back on the clock, looks like the operator missed a timeout signal" because i didnt even think john fox could be so stupid

Fox probably wanted time to run out so he could avoid that same storm of criticism that he's already been through and defended.

Once it got to 4th and goal with like ~40 seconds left it's a fireable offense to not call T.O.

Imagine KC lets clock run down, scores, then goes for 2 and converts. You've got maybe a few seconds left at best, with your ****ing dick in your hand and no excuse. You lose by a point. Because you are a ****ing dickhead.

Fat Mike ran a draw down 21-3 the kicked a 20 yard FG, kicked a 55 yarder on 4th and 5 down 21-6, then immediately surprised onside. Later he challenged a clear catch after having a timeout to watch the replay 100 times.

Later Andy Reid and John Fox might have both been shaving points with timeout usage.

So yeah, Pete has to step up if he wants a mention.

I'm just guessing at Fox' thought process. I can't defend it or try to guess how he arrived at that level of stupidity.

But, given his history, he clearly wasn't "going to turn Peyton loose" after receiving the KO in a tie game.

It's even worse. If Fox had been calling his TOs from when the Chiefs got stopped in bounds on 1st and goal, he could have gotten the ball back with over a minute and a half. An eternity for Manning to get into Mile High FG range.

He was probably OK to wait until Walrus spewed his timeout to not give out correct strategy.

To be fair it's not a complete freeroll for Denver to call timeout. If Broncos commit a defensive penalty on 4th and goal (and we've seen a lot of defensive penalties called this season) then you're just giving KC an extra minute with a fresh set of downs. I assume it's still correct for Denver to call timeout but it's not as horrendous as you guys are making it out to be.

I wonder if Fox (correctly) assumes that Reid will never go for 2 anyways or if the idea of KC going for 2 isn't even in his mind.
