I got the clock wrong, 5:30 remaining not 6:30 (I feel I should clarify). Still 3 minutes and 1 timeout used and can't get 2 yards.

I had minimal interest in this USC game. My ten year old kid says something like "Don't they have to score twice if they're down by 9 points, shouldn't they just kick a FG?"

He's ten years old. The thing is, he learned to count to 9 when he was probably 3 years old.

I think it was right to go for the TD, as you need a TD once and it should be a heck of a lot easier to get a TD from the 2-yard line than the 25-yard line (assuming you get back to the 25). Certainly before 4th down I go for it, I think it's close on 4th and 1. It's just the total lack of hurry-up or attention to the clock.

Either try some slant routes, or a run to the outside, or SOMETHING that will stop the clock in case of fail. But the helpless runs up the middle and then standing around for 35 seconds confused are just the worst.

I'd like to see the math on that. My intuition tells me to go for it when you are inside the 2 yard line even needing two scores.

They NEVER plan to fail. They always run the game as if the thing they are hoping will happen. It blows me away.
