What I meant was, it would take the surprise element out of it. Some coaches this year have done a surprise onside kick in the 2nd quarter of a 10-7 game. Notice the word "surprise".

A team "just lining up to go for it" would be like a team lining up and attempting an onside kick in the 2nd quarter of a 10-7 game.

That is that point I'm trying to make.

Made a mistake...after the draw play, there was a TO. Then there was a screen pass for two yards that took 23 seconds off the clock. TO. Then the kick.

Still pretty horrible.

Edit: Seems he walked out to argue with an official about the call, but yelled at the player before leaving the field. Still qualifies IMO.

Pretty much all the saints losses this year could have been likely to gone the other way if they were making optimal coaching decisions

Broncos was the only one where they didn't make a boatload of awful coaching decisions and end up losing a close game
