Why wouldn't he sign though? I guess if an elite club like Leicester come in and offer him a chance to backup Wes Morgan he might consider it, otherwise just stay on 2nd best team in tblitw.

If Burnley spent a few quid when they were in the PL they might have stayed up. Fact is they didn't so got relegated. Bournemouth spent money and are basically safe and it's March. Fair ****s to them.

WRT Vertonghen - yeah Wimmer has done really well, and can probably count himself unlucky to be dropped, but we're talking a legit top 10 CB itw.

Still, I think Wimmer has done well enough that he might keep his place with Vertonghen deployed alongside Dembele in midfield for a couple of games when Dier inevitably picks up his next yellow against Man Utd.

Maybe if Burnley had a billionaire owner to underwrite any losses if it all went wrong they might have spent 40 million as well.

Fair play to Bournemouth, they gambled and it worked, but this media myth that's it's some kind of fairy story is well wide of the mark.

I am so mad Spurs managed to get Lloris on the cheap. Would give up both Coutinho and Sturridge for him.

I wouldn't stop at Coutinho and Sturridge seeing as we've been told in this thread that each player in Spurs' first team is a legit top 10 ITW.

How much did Burnley actually spend in an attempt to stay up? They seemed happy to cash in on the TV money.

Bournemouth in PL is still a nice story. Yeah they have money but they've relied on quite a few players this season that got them into the PL and they had to cope with losing their star striker early on.

They've done really well.

What a crazy season this is. A few weeks back lot of people ITT (including me) expected City to go on a run and catch up the Leicester, instead they have to sweat top4 really hard as they just lost a huge game vs Utd and they still have a lot of tough away games vs teams who will do everything for points +CL which will take priority over the league at this point.

That said I'm fully on the Pep no CL train

Can someone preemptively ban SN ahead of the Germany vs. England friendly?

If by cashing in on the TV money you mean using it to pay off debts, improve the infrastructure of the club, upgrade the stadium, training ground and scouting network then yes they were happy to do that. I think that's a much better use of it than buying a couple of expensive players that may or may not have kept us up.

Because we don't have the safety net of billionaire owners, we can't go paying the kind of fees for players that Bournemouth can, because if it doesn't work we'd end up like Leeds, Pompey or Bolton.

I don't want to speak too soon, but it looks like we're reaping the benefit of that strategy this season and if we do go up, I'm sure there will be more money available to spend on players.

think boournley were pretty daft not to spend more of their £65m pl appearance cash on trying to stay up, but assuming they get promoted this yr it'll be a case of play bad -> get there in a massively massive way

If city don't get 4th and pep has a clause where he can say no ty, who throws the most money at him? Theoretically shouldn't man u literally throw their entire toilet paper sales fund at him? If you're arsenal do you ask arsene to step down if you can get pep instead?

If you're pep and you aren't going to city, where do you go instead?
03-21-2016 , 10:34 AM
would be shocked if pep doesn't take the city job regardless, clause is prob in there so he can extort a couple extra million shirts from city in exchange for not exercising it if the worst happens

THIS.

Wimmer is playing too good now to bench him. Spurs continue to win. If it ain't broke, don't fix it..

flicking through the sports columns in work, lots of seemingly random linking of out of work managers to potential jobs (Rodgers to Swansea is a popular one that actually makes sense) but I'm not seeing the name Tim Sherwood bandied around anywhere near as much as I'd like. At least my own personal hero Nigel "Ostrich" Pearson keeps cropping up though; apparently he's in the running for the Villa job.

Look for his replacement to have dry ends/brittle/bald Championship hair. Not stylish top half of the table Premier League hair..
