Don't gloat yet. There's a small chance you finish in a worse position than 9th - 5th.

Heh. Just like the opening of the Amsterdam Arena in 1996 solemnly ended our European significance:
Ajax 0 - 3 Milan 1996

(its what happens when your dad decides to bring your sister instead of you because "its late and you are tiny you need to sleep you tiny man" or w/e their bs logic was)

Ha. About 25 years ago we played in the Makita Tournament at Highbury - it was the old equivalent of the Emirates Cup. It featured Arsenal, us (and we were properly **** back at the time), a useful Sampdoria side and someone else, possibly Panathaniakos.

I think they had fielded a weakened side in the opening game against us, Vialli wasn't playing, along with some of the other bigger names. Anyway, they basically destroyed us, without trying very hard. They were 4-0 and George Parris scored for us, grabbed the ball out of the net and ran back to the centre circle. From there, Sampdoria scored another goal straight away. That moment basically was West Ham.

A guy called Renato Buso scored four for them that day. Afterwards the Sampdoria coach said he had a knock or something and was only operating at 60%.

Is that basically Magaluf or whatever on the Algarve? Most of the Algarve seems largely okay when I have been there, the only downside being too many ****s playing gawf.

Over the last few years I've been to quite a few spots for stags and what have you but hands down that was the best place I've been too. Can't spend money in it. €1.70 for a pint of the local Estrella and it was actually decent enough for what you were paying. We were all inclusive but obv we had to move about to avoid possibly getting turfed out.

Re the golf I couldn't believe it myself. The airport was full of old blokes trailing golf clubs. Pretty mad. Also just confirms that Aer Lingus is the worst airline going. They always and I mean always run out of drink on their flights.

The average wage in Portugal is half that in Spain. I personally find Spain absurdly expensive, where as (like you say) Portugal is pretty reasonable. They seem like decent sorts as well. I think the McCann thing cost them a fortune as well - it is actually a really good family destination, apart from the sea being Baltic.

....and this being the same world where 2nd is worse than 5th, meaning Chelsea have actually had a great season
